Just about everyone is familiar with my picture storytelling, but I haven’t done too many lately because of time constraints. However, when I read about the new mob, I knew it was time to get out into the field again for another mob chat to try and find out just what these guys were made of. I figured if I could open up a little dialogue with them, perhaps I could gain some insight into just how menacing they might be, but also if there might be a chance that I could uncover their docile side as well.
After heading over to Twin with Moonie, we began our journey southeast toward the area the “Eomons” are known to inhabit. I was hell bent on coming face-to-face with this creature of the wild that is said to be incredibly resistant to death, while dishing out damage that would put even the most uber of ubers in his or her place … translation meaning “revival terminal at Twin” where non-ubers got to see many of the celebrity players all in one place. Several of the top socs were represented, and inspite of all their uberness, it was a non-stop parade of Angel, Shadow and Supremacy in all their glory at the revival terminal where several others stood ready to heal. What a coming together in an effort to fight the savage beast, and now it was my turn to face this massive creature in the only way I knew how … fearless. Moonie and I decided that we would run instead of TP because we knew that we would meet up with some higher maturity bulls and cows along the way and perhaps knock off a few for a little ped since we weren’t delusional at all regarding our chances with an Eomon. When we finally reached the Eomons, I realized that if I’m going to get anywhere near them to open up dialogue, I would have to go in alone. There’s too much of a risk in activating a mob when more than one person is present. Moonie had to leave soon for work anyway, so I would be on my own to accomplish this mission, but I was ready to go in and attempt this undertaking. After experiencing the death rattle and reviving at Twin, I revved up my minor TP chip and knew I probably wouldn’t get to the Eomon camp in one swift jump, so I targeted the coords that Moonie gave me prior to T’ing out to the revival terminal and was pleasantly surprised when I landed on the side of a hill just above what seemed an extended camp of Eomons. I made note of it on the map just in case I needed to get back to the same place … who was I kidding, I knew I would probably be TP’ing so frequently and so fast that it could easily be considered a new form of rubberbanding. I spotted a lone Eomon far enough away from the rest and decided to make this my first effort at introducing myself. I took caution in approaching very carefully, and when I felt that we were close enough to make eye-contact, I stopped. We stood staring at each other for what seemed a vast amount of minutes, but I figured I would wait a bit before I said anything. ![]() I finally decided it was time to open up the dialogue, and see if I couldn’t at least establish some kind of rapport so that my ass didn’t get splattered all over the terrain too quickly. However, before I could get out … Hi, I’m MindStar9, and … I was swiftly greeted with a 169.4 critical hit that gave me the biggest headache ever. ![]() After saying to myself … oh HELL no … I arrived at the Twin revival terminal all snug up against Skalman (Sweetie that he is) … last time we were THAT close we were dancing in the CND Hot Tub. While maneuvering my way past SilverFox, Neomaven, Lodidodi, Sibuk and AkiranBlade, I noticed I was being healed by TrinketSoul (thank you my dear). What a production line THIS was. I quickly made my exit back to the side of the hill and decided that I was going to give this rude Eomon what for, and let him know that knocking me into next week was no way to greet a non-threatening guest who only wanted to chat. Upon landing in my now familiar place on the side of the hill above the Eomon camp, I discovered that several more joined the mob I was attempting to have a chat with. In the distance, I could see my absolute favorite mob, a Faucervix … NOT … HATE those little (ok, big) !@#$%. That aside, I noticed that the mob who punched my lights out was moving toward me, and as he got rather close, he stopped and stared once again. ![]() Perhaps this time he would take into consideration that I wasn’t there to harm him, but rather to get to KNOW him and his camp buddies. I figured I would break the ice and once again try to introduce myself as the EU picture storyteller and let him know that I wanted to do a story about their arrival on Calypso. As he started moving away, I said … WAIT, I just want to talk for a minute, that’s all. He stopped in his tracks and looked at me and said that he’s not interested in talking and that they just want to move about their new environment in peace without being hassled. ![]() I said … fat chance of that happening with all the ubers invading your camp on the other end … can’t you see that I’m coming in peace and just want to get to know more about you and your brethren. He said … “ubers? … ubers are at the other end of the camp? I better go check this out and see if I can help.” Oh boy, I can see it now … this turtlehead would tell the ubers that MS9 tipped him off. Dammit … as he moved off toward the other end of the camp I could only hope that the ubers would consider it a gift. ![]() ... CONTINUED ... *** Last edited by MindStar9; 11-19-2006 at 16:34. |

When the rest of the herd continued mingling around instead of following him, I felt I still had a chance to get a conversation in, so I moved in a little closer to see if I could get someone else’s attention. I have NO clue why I equipped my pistol, but it looked good as an accessory.
![]() As a mob started getting closer, I decided that perhaps the whip might appear a little less threatening, so I made the change. The mob stopped for a moment to stare, but then went on about his business with disinterest in my presence. ![]() I moved in closer and made an attempt to get the attention of an Eomon Stalker in hopes of at least engaging in some type of action that would produce the beginnings of an established rapport for future meetings. ![]() Unfortunately, I got a cramp in my left hand, and while my attention was diverted, I hadn’t noticed that I had a visitor approaching until I felt the ground shake, but even then I wondered if someone else was in the area mining. ![]() Nope, next thing I know, the lights went out and I was eating dirt. Not a nice thing to do to someone who only wanted to talk. ![]() ... CONTINUED ... *** Last edited by MindStar9; 11-19-2006 at 16:34. |

It wasn’t bad enough that my body was lying cold on the ground, but I overheard my executioner telling his pal how proud he felt of himself for taking out MindStar9. Ok, that was it, I was NOT going to give up. There had to be at least ONE of them who was reasonable enough to entertain having a simple chat and getting acquainted.
![]() Upon revival, this time I was interwined with Sibuk (cutie that he is), and after maneuvering my way through the ubers again, I found myself being healed this time by Zar. Thanks Zar, long time no see, and a pleasant surprise for sure. Nice that someone can gain skills healing my mutilated body. Upon full health again, I headed back out to the hillside in yet another attempt at getting SOMEone to chat with me. Upon arrival, I found a lone Eomon looking like he was about to take a rest in the shade of a tree, so I approached again cautiously, but still with whip in hand. ![]() When he turned and saw me, he knelt down as if to rest, so I thought I would show respect and mirror his posture by kneeling myself. ![]() What a dodgy dude HE was … he played me only to gain some leverage before the strike. I was laid out like Sunday brunch. ![]() When I got back to the hillside once again, it appeared as though he was a little sorry for misleading me, because as he moved away from the tree, he told me that he left a little something for me as a consolation for being a good sport. ![]() ... Good sport my ass, I had some unfinished business to take care of here. I moved down the hill, and as I got closer to him, he turned and moved toward me. I said that if what he did helped to gain a little more trust in my presence, then it was all good.
![]() When he got a little closer, I was swift to take the opportunity to show MY gratitude for his inconsiderate behavior, and as I pulled my arm back with whip in hand, he just stood there and stared in disbelief. ![]() I knew he didn’t think I’d do it, but as quickly as I pulled my arm back, I let him have it with the whip … SNAP is all you could hear … and when he didn’t flinch, I anticipated a quick reprisal. ![]() Instead, he just shook his head and walked away. What a disappointment. At least he could have acknowledged that he had it coming with how he treated me, gift or no gift after the fact. ![]() Being dissed by one mob only meant that I needed to try harder to affect some kind of communication that would allow a rapport to be established for future interaction. Suddenly, the ground started shaking again and as I turned, whip in hand, I was approached by another Eomon Stalker. He politely said that if he did a trick for me, would I go bother some other mobs. I was feelin’ more confident now, so I said … maybe … let’s see you balance that massive mob ass of yours on the left side with right side raised off the ground and I might consider bothering someone else. I wasn’t going to hold my breath for this one, but to my surprise, he accommodated my request, and with great ease I might add. ![]() ... I was thinkin’ that maybe they were seeing me as all fluff, especially the way I was dressed, so perhaps I needed to change it up a bit and show a side of myself that spoke more authoritatively. I quick dug into my inventory for the one outfit that most mobs recognize now … the Prancer Punks know enough to run when they see me coming in this outfit, so perhaps the Eomons will get the same impression, although I hardly expected them to run, but perhaps at least be a little more amenable to engaging in some chat.
Once changed, I decided to move back over to the hill and the tree and test the new persona on a meandering Eomon Stalker. I exhibited my tough look with whip in hand, but still moved in cautiously. ![]() As I approached, he said … “you don’t need to introduce yourself, I know who you are MS9, word gets around fast out on the plain. I don’t mind having a chat with you, but I’d like a favor first.” I said sure, what can I do. He said he wanted a hug because his girlfriend dumped him and he was feeling rather down. I said, why not, what could it hurt. I made my best attempt at giving him a hug despite his enormous size. ![]() Little did I know that I was about to get knocked for a loop. Once again, my good nature was taken advantage of, and I was no longer seeing the light of day. As I lay there in the shade of the trees where I landed, I could hear a snicker that made me all the more determined to come back and somehow get even. However, the thought right behind that was … am I frickin’ deLUSIONAL or WHAT!! ![]() When I got back, old turtle breath was sauntering off and looking proud, but I wasn’t done with him … not by a long shot. ![]() I yelled out to him and said … look, you dinky turtle head stuck on a pinata, how about coming back over here and having some damn manners for once. I came out here today in peace to establish a rapport so that we might generate some good will between the Eomon clan and the colonists. All I’ve gotten is deception and trickery, and all I wanted was peace. ![]() ... CONTINUED ... *** Last edited by MindStar9; 11-19-2006 at 16:35. |

He said … ok, here’s your peace!
![]() I’m not sure what it’s going to take to gain the trust of these new mobs to the level of engaging in a little chat now and then, but I’m not finished by any means. After reviving at Twin for the final time of the day, I bid everyone a good night and headed off to Atlas Haven to stand by the trees where I usually sign off when I’m just too tired to find my way to the apt. Upon arriving, I took a moment to respond to a PM I had gotten, but was abruptly interrupted by someone standing in front of me spouting all sorts of explitives. I immediately recognized the avi name and realized that it was someone who earned herself a ban at the EF forum quite some time ago and found it amusing to run into me ingame. She took the opportunity to show me the extent of her vocabulary (as well as everyone else within chat view), and the more civil and constructive I was in my responses, the more agitated she became, and the more colorful the language, although she DID slip in a 50 cent word once, which gave me hope. I let her have her say, and when all was said and done, I said thank you for the chat, but I needed to sign out and take care of some “real” issues. As I left her standing there, watching her arms flailing, I knew she was about to respond, but the only thing I was thinking about at that moment was … What happened to my “peace” … *Yes, I screenied the chat!* Last edited by MindStar9; 11-19-2006 at 16:37. |
