Notes

I picked an easy mob location for the next one. I mined round here once quite a while back but not as far north.

Started off west around the lake, only mobs encountered on the whole trip were Snarks, Snables and a couple of Hiryuu. Nothing really eventful happened on the whole trip apart from the Devil's Tail find which was nice as it's my first. I shall definitely be coming back here with probes though as the enmatter was great. No high markup ores found though apart from a couple of small Dianum claims.

Anyway, it achieved my objective in finding out what was there. The most annoying part of the trip was when a soc mate got a 800 odd ped Nexus HoF (unamped with TT finder...) for me to find out that it was just west of the Segna TP where I'd been about an hour earlier... I'm not bitter... honest!

Anyway, so far the project is going well, my first overall basic profit shown as well thanks to all the Nexus mainly.

Good luck all!

Notes

The main aim of this project is to identify where ores and enmatter are found in Amethera. This is the only reason that I can call this trip anything like a success as I discovered Alferix for the first time and Cave Sap for the first time in ages - was gutted when I saw the Alferix markup though! It was a truly abysmal run - I'm surprised that the figures are anywhere near as "good" as they are - the Gazz, Belkar and Durulium saved me at the end!

As you will see from the hits, I had a 9 run NRF on enmatter after which I got a II. Because I was getting desparate for claims on the run I rebombed all claims before I mined, this resulted in 3 more hits overall, a III ore and a II and IV in enmatters. This cost me a total of 15.50PED in missed shots, interestingly enough not far off my total loss for the trip... I might consider doing a run with absolutely no rebombing and see how I get on.

I started out from Bilton with the aim of mining OLA27 and had it in mind to do a circular run back. When I got there I discovered a spawn of high maturity Tripudion just big enough to really annoy me while mining. I took on a stalker just to make sure that I could kill them (just about comfortable although quite a bit of fapping) and decided to carry on.

After a few battles and little loot from the froggys and next to nothing on the mining front I decided that the safest route was along the river bank north. This changed my original circular route plan to head north towards Shinook. I'm glad I did because the claims there were a darn sight better than in the LA. I also bagged a few argos on the way that looted pretty nicely.

Notes

Well the scenery was nice....

I've been planning to do this for some time now, just needed the time to sit down to work out the route with my noob hunting skills. I have tried mining around New Swiss before with very little success.... I was originally planning to take 100 bombs/probes on the route due to the length of it but decided due to time restrictions that I'd only take 50 of each (thank god)!

The general route taken was all the way along the river as far north as possible then directly north through OLA42 and nw to New Swiss.

As you'll see from the hits I dropped a total of 12 bombs/probes before I got my first hit - a II. I was already apprehensive at this time, especially after I'd only got a III Belkar after 16 bombs! The figures speak for themselves - this was truly awful, probably the worst mining run I've ever had. It's a good job that I'm only doing this as a data gathering exercise!

As far as the project goes, it was a very partial success as I found Melchi and Ares for the first time on Amethera (first ever Ares find). As far as discovering what is to be found in what area it was pretty much a disaster. Due to the awful hit % it has given me very little data to work on which probably means that I'll have to take a similar route again at some point. I'll probably wait until I either change or upgrade my equipment to see if that makes a difference, whenever I do it though it will be with some trepadation!

interesting so far, but i don't understand why you can't run NRF in fullscreen. i do and it records everything fine. i will alt-tab out fast from time to time be a certain. i use the plot mapping tool often.

That's interesting, I never actually thought about trying to use it in fullscreen!

+Rep for the advice

I started recording NRFs (very fast and easy with NRF program) - but gave up on it - since when the entire map starts filling up with NRF spots, it actively discourages us from mining in a previously NRF spot. And since finds are random - we may miss vital spots if we follow NRF patterns.

Having said that, however, it may be interesting to see if NRF's form a pattern of sorts - but that would mean either someone with tremendous money/time on their hands - or an entire soc or community participates to map the NRFs over SEVERAL trials. And also ENSURES that ALL data is accurate and not tainted by guesswork or poor recordings.

Regards.

Yep, I hear what you are saying - for the purposes of this project though it might be worth me doing it as I'm not intending to revisit places over and over again. The idea is to get as much of the continent "mapped" for resources as possible.

Anyway guys, for anybody that is following the thread, sorry for the delay, I've got another run to record on here but not got round to doing it yet because of this:

4773 PED Hiryuu Old WoF HoF

I got that yesterday morning during WoF and I've done pretty much nothing since but work on how best to spend the best part of 5000PED! (There will be some new mining equipment on the way)!

Notes

A route that I've never taken before, I decided that I really wanted to check out the island to the south of Amethera and planned my route around that. When the first enmatter hit came up with Oil I thought uh oh here comes tonnes of Lyst but I was happy to see the Belkar claims start rolling in. I ran south into Longu land and then along the border of Allophyl land before I hit the coast. I tp'd across to the Island where I hit the nice IX Oil which was the difference between profit and loss on the run. PEASS described OLA39 as Atrax medium. I got a bit of a shock to find a mix of mid to high level Trax and Trox and got quickly killed there - I really ought to get up to date with what mobs are in what LAs! This is the reason that I didn't use my full quota of bombs and probes as I revived in the LA on the Akmuul side and ran out of room although I did pick up a nice Kanerium claim there - first in Amethera.

As far as the project goes, it was a pretty good success. I can pretty much confirm that the area south of Rei's is loaded with Belkar and Oil If it wasn't for the horrible run of 15NRFs on ore it would have brought in a nice as opposed to small profit as well. Shame I wasn't using a small enmatter amp!

Just about to hit Amethera for another run, will post results up tomorrow.

Good luck!

Notes

Treasure Island is pretty much the only part of Amethera that I've extensively mined before I started this project. I've mined most of it in the past with some success apart from the obvious inaccessible areas where the Hogs and SEGs are (to me anyway). The one area that I haven't tried is across the far north of the island so I decided to give it a go.

This originally started off as a 100 bomb/probe run but due to hitting a 65PED Blaus global when running back to TI Castle to dump loot I decided to end the run ensuring a profit.

Nothing really significant to say about the run - I tried mining the thin piece of land right in the north-west which I've heard sometimes comes up with rare ores but didn't find much (not that I expected to with my finder). Killed lots of medium foul along the way, a couple of Allos and some Bristlehogs. Getting the global was nice - first mining one for a while.

As far as this project goes, personally I gained nothing that I didn't already know out of the run. It is the first time that I've found Cobalt since I started this project though so at least it's one thing to add to the list.

On to somewhere more adventurous tonight I think!
