Considering not even playing on the weekends

I'm guessing it's the number of people on but I don't know.... It seems I always loose ped on the weekends for some reason. I'll have to wait till I get home tonight to add up everything but I'm thinking that I'm down about 100-200 ped from where I was Friday night and thats with 2 globals, a HOF, 3 amples, 2 greats, and a score of mediums, average, poor, and very poor hits.

Perhaps one reason I lost was that I was exploring new territory and I always loose when I do that but... the reason I was exploring was that there were people crawling all over my usual spots (even really out of the way spots)

I do enjoy exploring but man it really eats the credits....

If you mean last weekend, it was just a disaster in mining (and still is, AFAIK). I had several subsequent bad runs and decided to stop, until it gets better. It's not if weekends were bad in general, it's just this particular time. It all goes up and down in waves, just wait for the next one

This weekend was my best weekend I ever had since 2 years. One great Narc (80 Peds) and one massive Lysterium with 840 and a 1020 Pedder from an Argonaut.

So it cant be the weekend ....

Just luck it appears. Yesterday for instance I signed on, dropped a few bombs where I "died" trying to mine and didn't get much. Changed location and my first bomb hit a global of ~113 lyst. I then managed a bunch more hits and totaled up a profit of around 160 (after bombs and repairs).

However, I then went to hit my usual spots (wasted quite a few more bombs exploring again on the way) but most everything everywhere seemed dry (and I mean really dry). I hit a few decent little claims (modest mostly) but most veins didn't pan out, everything seemed empty. I could drop a bomb hit a poor/modest and then waste 4-6 bombs searching around it looking for the rest of the vein then finding nothing. It was really odd because I was in out of the way places I just knew no one else had picked up part of the vein on. And I'm pretty sure there were "empty" veins there too.

Anyway, after loosing most of my gains, I saw the big 34k mining ATH (grats to the guy who got it by the way) so I chalked my losses up to it and continued to look. From what I could tell, everything was still pretty much empty and I went to some spots that "always" yeild a return of some kind but they were really dry as well. As obsessive as I am I decided to call it a night.

So by the end of the night I was just breaking even but that's ok. I think of it this way.... as long as it's paying for my bombs that are raising my skills then I'm doing ok.

Well here we are again, The weekend.

To start off with, up until earlier this morning (before someone hit 27k lyst), everything seemed dry. I went checking every spot I could think of but it was like everything was either dry or like a dev was throwing darts at a the map to decided where deposits would go. Veins would rarely pan out past 1-2 deposits, but mostly I would get a hit then waste 3-5 bombs looking around it for something that should be there. Overall, I would go out everytime and come back with a 20-30 ped loss (out of 50 bombs).

After the 27k lyst hit, things improved a little but areas were still mostly dry. Now I account much of this to more people playing/mining on the weekend but that should cause things to equal out (as long as they are depositers). After the big hit I did notice more people getting globals for mining (seemed quite a few). I however, was still hitting dry ground no matter where I went except for 1 or 2 runs that I broke even.

Well, after loosing the $30 I've put in this weekend, I think I'll go to bed and be much more conservative dropping bombs tomorrow. Good luck all and be careful with those

If you lose ped on the weekend please keep playing, cos i tend to gain ped on the weekend and lose during the week. If you stop playing then im likely not to gain from your loss which will force me to stop playing in the week which would mean you couldnt gain from my loss, and then where would we be!!

Its all swings & roundabouts tbh

A couple of weeks ago I saw a poll on this site, it said that approx 70% of people hunt for a living in PE and 30% mine.

At the time I was hunting and losing peds at a painful rate, but when I saw this poll I thought that there was probably more money to make in mining (because there are less people sharing the wealth MA give out from mining then from hunting, logic works iff MA put the same amount of cash into resource deposits as they do into loots). So I went out and started mining, and made a nice little profit the first couple of times out. However, the last couple of days I have found basicly nothing and lost all my gains.

My question is; how many other people saw that poll and thought the same thing I did? The more miners there are the less the average mining return will be (I guess, would explain the drying up of the resources and your falling profits).

I don't agree that the more miners you have "mining" will cause fewer finds.

I think the more bombs and probes used causes more finds to be probable.

Obviously don't prospect where someone has just cleared the area of materials, but, the respawn rate is dependant upon money spent.

Note, I didn't say make a profit. That is based upon experience (the player more than the avitar) and knowledge of the field.
