Mining Skill

I am having trouble finding a post on this. Mining skill, it seems as though it just is not increasing. I have mined for quite some time, yet my skill is newbie 1 along with prospecting. However, my drilling, surveying are getting good. What am i to do to increase my mining skill? I have been mining for about 6 months off and on.

you know 'mining' skill is only related to prospecting=ores

same as 'drilling' is only related to surveying=enmatter

geology,computer,engineering,etc are linked to both bombs and probes

ahhh ok well i have only done enmatter...that explains it perfectly then..

I've been doing it for months and was like damn...i still really suck at it....

that makes me feel alot better

you get mining skills if you extract ore claims like you get drilling skills if you extract enmatter claims.

And since Mining, like Drilling, only affects the speed at which you extract finds, and not their size or frequency, these skills are in fact worth very little.

You right that it affects the speed at which you extract finds, but it also affects how much you can pull with each click(max and min).

I find value in clicking once and pulling up 99 stones of lyst more often than pulling up half that amount per click.

The more skilled you get at extraction the more you can pull per click on higher end resources as well.

Like Scourge said they also increase health.

Now back in PE when you found a claim you did not global until you extracted it. Most claims fell within a certain range and some speculated that your extracting skills determined where you would global in that range so they meant a lot more. Who is to say when MA made changes to mining to auto claim and global they did not add some calculation based on your extraction skills to generate what range you would fall into a certain claim? It would be impossible to prove but it would seem a likely course of evolution if that is truely how the system worked.

the longer I play EU the more I find less and less when it comes to skills are useless or "worth very little", even if they are not being utilized 100% at the moment. To each is own though
