![]() While I cannot say how loot is determined I think there are spawn trigger points for deposits much like how mobs respawn when killed. Certain areas only contain a certain library of resources but I don't think the system has changed so much since they implemented auto claim. Before auto-claim two miners could detect the same resource trigger and then it was a race to get to the 5m diameter to claim it. This is just my opinion to throw out to the vultures but I somehow think its a hybrid system of claim triggers that spawn in resource fields and participant profiles and maybe ingame dynamics that determine what the resource is and how big it is, for sure but it makes sense. So miners are partially right when they enter an empty field (all the claim triggers have been found and are waiting to be spawned or have spawned in another part of the field the miner has yet to enter) Its not that there are big veins of ore in the land scape (we still clip through rocks and trees for Pete's sake ) but it would not be hard to code triggers in a 3D realm much like mobs. Jeez for all we know the mining triggers could move just like mobs make both systems very similar indeed. Mobs are a loot mechanism independant from avatars, Crafting machines are a loot mechanism independant from avatars, I don't know why mining would not have a similar mechanism independant of avatars. OR to play devil's advocate it could all be avatar generated but you still need the "dynamic" system to change variables for you or people would just spend all day standing in one spot dropping bombs and collecting their finds.Ahhhh well back to the updrafts. Congratulations on the 54390857029385702938475902834759028734905872309457 20934785902385702983475092834750982734590827349057 82039457209357029384750293857029385702938475029384 75029834750298501786239856034952389563895612784591 8270245608125th version of this thread.
You might want to search before posting. You will find that most times the question you are pondering has indeed been answered at least 500 times before you thought of it. Let the flaming begin but after thousands upon thousands of bombs and reunlocking CGA 3 times I have a different answer than everyone else and more than enough data to prove my findings. Hell at one point I was buying OA-103's in lots of 30 and burning them in a single evening. Trust me, it takes a long time to drop 1680 bombs and it eats your (L) finder faster than you can say deposit. OA-10x will increase your claim size by x sizes. I know my areas VERY well in terms of what I find where and how big it is when I find it. All my data shows this is exactly how they work. You can admittedly take this information and map it to increased cost per drop increasing your find sizes by the same % as your drop cost increased IN SOME CASES but it is not constant. As to the baseless, uninformed, and childish comments people are making about them not working, they are only saying this because they used ONE AMP, ONE TIME, and did not find the biggest ATH ever on their first run. That and the fact they they likely have no idea how to mine properly. People need to wake up and realize it is not just the skill of the avatar but MUCH MORE SO the skill of the person behind the avatar that makes things happen. I can attest amps make a HUGE difference if you know how and when to properly use them. Ask any Manifest Destiny member you see. When I used to mine, my soc mates would find things on CND for instance. I could tell by certain factors including but not limited to what material, the size of the global, day of week, and global messages where they found the material they found to within 50 meters without being anywhere near them or them uttering one word before I called it. In fact I did this so often my soc mates would get pissed off at me for not telling them how I did it. I will say this though, before i quit mining all together and MA changed how resources spawn I was offered at least 20,000 PED by no less than 5 different people if I would teach them how I did it. Anyway, as I have said many times before, some things work for some players and not others so it is up to you to figure out what works for you. What I would recommend though is trying EVERYTHING you are curious about and seeing what works for you. I can't tell you why I recommend this but it will work. Keep your chin up and try to ignore the ignorant naysayers who make comments and can not back them with any type of tangible evidence. Last edited by Kaiser; 04-24-2008 at 00:58.. |

Heh ya gotta resist the urge to try to pay dodge the NRF with an anp.
I thought that at first, thought i would try to play some kinda odds game with waiting for an nrf then putting the amp in till you hit, then remove it for an nrf, etc etc.... it doesn't work :p Either go all in on the amp or don't, or you will be kicking yourself hard when you get that global right after your amp breaks. Had that happen all the time at first. Now i just use amps on every single drop, at least i dont miss the globals without the amps now. Im pretty sure thee is no global restrictor for using amps. Im basically positive for finds up to 300x your drop cost. And im pretty certain for finds up to ~1400x your drop cost(2 of which i have found, both amped, which was a 2k with a 101 and a 4k with a 103). Are the ultra large ones limited.....i dont know, its not exactly easy to collect data on that class of finds. And yes good point on the expensive finders, forgot to add that in. after 2 avatars to lvl26 prospector while using mostly (on new ava almost only) amps... i can tell its only for disadvantage... but while ive mined without amp lately.. the % of loss is same... 30-60% return almost always if u can get a hof/3 oa-103 then u should use em.. but if u do like i.. 25 oa-103s in row without a single global then u should quit this game |

Maybe its just me, "but" I found that some amps don't work very well for me. I seem to have out grown the 101, now the 102 doesn't seem to do much for me anymore. I've been hunting of late, but when I try mining again, I'll try a 103 & see what happens...
