Mining Claim Question

Let's say your mining and their are players and/or mobs around.

Now if the deposits are pre-placed or "spawned" before players drop the bomb and an avatar or mob is directly above that spot, how would the claim rod show up because player and mob models are solid.

Would it appear beside to the closest open tile or show up as a NRF?

I think that's only a question that the game Dev's can answer. People can speculate to what the answer may be, but no one really knows.

pretty sure it moves the claim to the next free spot on the land... same with other solid structures, like buildings or rocks. It just spawns next to them.

Claims can appear right where you are standing or inside a mob or inside a rock.

It would depend on how claims are placed.

I do not believe that claims have a static location but instead have a small radius in which they can spawn. If this is the case when you drop a bomb/probe the claim can appear anywhere within that radius so a single person standing there will make no difference.

I am not 100% on this theory as yet (still only at the starting end of my 100k probe project) however this is what the data seems to confirm at this point.

As echo shows above. I had a claim in the ramp on the bridge 2nd bridge near billiton to the Sth. It was way in there an not visible. Closest I could get was about 10m I think.

Also recently had one in the houses on TI in the wall. Couldn't get close enough to extract. The ones with the white spires in the NE of TI.

I have dropped bombs and the claim was so close that my ava got slid to the side a bit when it popped up..

I also had one that kind of lifted me but it was on a hill so not sure if that was just grapical for being pushed on an un even surface.

If something is on the spot where the claim is, it has to be moved before the claim rod will appear. Happened yesterday, as a matter of cfact :).
