Mining, mining, mining...

Well this thread may come off as a bit of a rant and if so I apologize, I'm feeling mixtures of frustration along with pleasure and its making me burn cigarrettes out on my body

Anyway I've spent $30.00USD on this game thus far (Figure around 280PEDs) trying different things and mining is taking the lead thus far.

In my time mining I've noticed that you increase your skill in Surveyor/Prospector so you can use higher-level tools that allow you search deeper depths for Ore/EnMatter and that the higher quality stuff is at deeper depths (Makes sense to me.)

I've also come to find that even if I can search at 400m's in depth I may still only get Deposits of II or III which is where the frustration comes in...I'm having fun buying the bombs and exploring different parts of Amethera but at the same time I'm not making much headway.

So heres the Pros and Cons I've found so far (Along with some questions at the end)

Pros:

1.) It's fun exploring and finding different areas!

2.) Hell its even fun to just sit there and click on a claim and extract it

3.) I get a certain rush when I find a claim

4.) The skill system makes sense...higher skill = deeper search depth


Cons:

1.) The only piece of equipment that matters is the finder...extractors and refiners seem to be fine whether its a TT one or a hand-crafted one

2.) I've yet to find out if "Amps" are worth the trouble/money

3.) Mining, like anything else in this game seems completely random (Not unlike any other MMO and if we were all finding gigantic deposits of Gold then the Gold wouldn't have any value to it...hence the point to this game/universe)

4.) I keep getting violated by robot drones and flesh-eating anorexic looking creatures

5.) I'm sure as hell not breaking even ... PEDs are leaking out of me like water through a sieve

Lastly...I'm beginning to wonder if I can reach a search depth of 400m with my skill (I'm saying 400m because my tools say 200m / 400m) and if so can one search any deeper or is 300m - 400m the general area for this game?

All in all I'm gonna keep mining until I fall out, from what I gather you need to keep mining to build skills (Duh) but its already cost me $30 and in all honesty I'm beginning to sense the "Addiction" or "Casino" feeling this game has to it.

And even if I do fall out...its back to the sweat shop for me...

LOL, skill, finder what not, do not have any influent on what size claim you can find. If you do some search there plenty of post discuss about that.

The only 2 things that influent the size of claim is LUCK and Amps.

Sorry if I came off wrong - I was stating that size = luck and equipment/skills = what type of deposits you find.

it all boils down to how much you want to spend on this game.

if you want to get UBER DEPOSITS ,YOU HAVE TO SPENDS MORE THEN 280 PEDS.

OR, you can do what every else does, just wait your turn and skill up and HOPE!

Average spending rates??? Does anyone really know what the avg. is?

I deposit. I have fun. I mine, hunt and craft. I have fun. I haven't found a tower yet and I haven't made it past the 2k ped global barrier but I still have fun. Long story short... it's all about having a good time.

i love this game, but don't play it if . . .

read this thread regarding your ideas of a casino. this is a unique game and needs to be approached as such.

If you treat EU as if it were a casino, then that's what you will get.
If you treat it as a place to spend some fun time ...you will get fun.
If you treat it as an RPG with opportunities for serious virtual investment... you will get that also.

Even on the worst days, burning maximum ped, my netvalue is never, ever, down 500-1kped - my real life account would be if I spent it elsewhere.

To answer one of your later questions, persistence and afk intelligence are the two most important factors for being successful at this game
