Question Are the High End Finders Like TK320 Overrated???

I must say before posting this message I have been feeling a bit down on my 1.8k PED - TK320 that I just bought a week back. I was using a Z20 w/wo amps sometimes mostly oa101-104 and had about 4 HoFs and a few big globals in a matter of 1.5 months.

Although I wasn't expecting HoFs or Globals straightaway as I respect the dynamics of the game, I thought with my skills I would atleast get good hits on an average... but on the contrary I have been getting hardly any hits at all and the ones I get are poor and small.

There should be some advancement based on skills+equipment. Just a thought not a winge as I love this game.

Hopefully there's a Tower somewhere in the near future

...or I am going back to the TT finder LOL

What I believe is high-end finders help you finding RARE ores, not helping you find more ores/bigger sizes.

I am not in any way your level, comparing to using tk-320, but I've been using OF-105, tk-120 and later tk-220. Never hit any tower or something, tbh, the biggest finds I had was on my oldie OF-105

I believe with tk-320 AND the right spot you're able to see the swirls on more rare ore than it'd be with any lower-depth finder.

I just unlocked mineral sense not too long ago and in a few posts I complain about the tk series altogether..Some people have good luck with them.. I after trying 3 tk 120's 2 tk 220 and 1 320 will never buy one again after they run out. The tk series for me finds mainly level II and III claims of crap ore that can be got at lower depths with tt finder. the ocassional VII -XI that is got does not come near paying off the finder MU. I get an avg of 3-4 claims per 10 bombs which is not bad rate..just the size of the claim is pathetic. so I may 80% of the time recover bomb costs they no where near recover MU of the finders.

Yes I do find the rarer ores on ocassion but 5 to 15 rocks total per the life of an expensive finder is to me not worth it. With the econmy and drops as shitty as they have been since 7.0 I would suggest to keep skilling but stick with only 105 and find stable finds of mid/high MU ore to go for steady return.

Higher skills and better gear to go glory seeking only works for a chosen few (level 50 prospect and up).. let them do whats best.. go for steady return. the glory ore seeking will keep you broke.

you do not get bigger finds with highend finders.. it just give you better odds of finding rare ores

I would really like to hear some more opinions on this. I am just about maxed on the Z20, and will most likely be able to use the tk120 within the next couple months.

I have always been a believer in using the best equipment you are capable of. It just does not make sense that more expensive equipment with better avg depth would be worse...

they are better in finding rare ores which could give you a better after-markup profit

Better finders doesnt mean you would find larger deposits which you dont

Marksmanship Ranged Damage Assessment Calypso Ground Assessment Extraction

I have been using the tk120(L) for a while now and I must say that I am happy. I have been using 103 and 104 amps, remember that some rare ores can only be found in size VI finds and bigger due to the high TT value of 1 stone. But the rare ores are just a bonus mostly and I have made good profit from mostly markup of narc and niks since they seem to be easy enough to find nice quantities of. I have had two hofs, 700 and 900 peds but they have more evened out any loss that I have had.
I think its about where you mine really, avoiding lyst, blaus, copper and such and stick to nice markup areas hoping for some platinum, valurite or gold. Have found langotz once and adomasite once also.

Have heard that the tk320 is not as good from others but I guess it is all about finding the right spot to mine.

It seems logic that the TT return would be constant (or perhaps a few % better) regardless of skills and tools, its all about the profit from markup.

I've dropped some dozens k of bombs with TK120/220 now. I must say the results vary a lot, it's clear that some rare ores come in waves, if you mine the right area at the point when those rare ores are spawning, you would get a nice bunch of rare ores, but the run would sucks big time if you do it in the wrong time.

My tip is that don't go for rugaritz or tridenite, don't dream you will get another tower like dub did. Go find adomasite or something like that instead.

If you know spots where some rares or even semirares are then yes it definately is well worth the money. I wouldnt buy TK320 to go to Akmuul and mine Narc/Niksa. Or check Dome 3 if id find hit a nice Cumbriz.

That 1.8k the thread starter said is too much to pay for a tk320 is compensated with for example 9 Zanderium Ingots, 4 Tridenite Ingots or 33 Platinum Ingots (Ofc you might find these with your good old OF-105 too, but i highly doubt it. Maybe once in a year..).
If you have some knowledge of where and how to mine those Ores, it shouldnt be much of a problem to get the ped youve invested back with the 7k bombs it can drop.
