This was before the changes to mining, so the point is moot.

Well, i've been a miner for over a year now... (that's where my personal opinions come from)

okay well let's take a moment to ponder.

I often let my tongue lash sharply when I am angered. Something I need to work on. That being said I would like to grats Klod and the others who have very recently started finding some rare ores. There is something interesting here though. Everyone who has found the rare ores recently have found them since the last VU and they slowly seem to be increasing. This is the same pattern that develops whenever MA puts a new ore in. It always takes several days for it to start getting into the system. I think they finally turned the full ore spectrum back on. Now is this a result of constant complaining from the community that there are ores not being found? Who knows?

Now I've been asked here in this thread to show what proof I have that MA took it out. Well of course I have no 'real' proof because MA doesn't tell anyone about anything. So I have to speculate with the facts that are before me just like everyone else does. I have to speculate since the rare ores weren't found anywhere by noobs or vets that the ores were no longer in the system. And while I'm on the subject of noobs and vets, it is a completely IDIOTIC notion of some of these noobs to claim that it's just that miners not having enough skills to find the ores. That just shows your ignorance as much as it shows the limited time that you've been in this game and community. When I am in a position to know at least 5 of the top miners in this game and they all say the same 'no rare ore' rant to me, I myself have found no rare ores and every time I talk with other respected miners they tell me they find no rare ore, then there is NO RARE ORE.

But as I've stated with this past VU and with the findings of some respected miners, it would appear that some rares are coming back into the system. It would be very MA like to take it out and put it back in without saying a word to the community. And another interesting thing is that there is a landgrab coming this week and with that there has been speculation of new areas of the Amethera continent opening up. Would seem logicall in a MA sense to have the rare ores in the system again and for these rare ores to be found on the new land areas that have opened up. But I guess that's something we'll just have to see.

In closing, I would like to point out that while I am often critical of MA and their choices and methods, I don't hate them. I don't even dislike them. I like Marco even though he feeds us information with an eye-dropper. I think MA customer support has made leaps and bounds in service and is doing a pretty good job overall. I love the concept of PE and I just want to see it succeed and be beneficial to both MA and the player base.

Long live PE.

It does appear that mining is changing again - my recent experience is that I'm finding more but getting less. On the + side it is at least satisfying that the finder is beeping and not just coming up empty. I have been able to find some of the rarer ores but they are coming out tiny and I'm finding them in some really off the wall places.

and an fyi..the minimum skills for finding the "rare" Alferix and possibly Copper is ~ Geo 260/Pros ~280. Directly after a Socmate leveled up to the above she found both copper and alferix...though Im sure being in the right place helped a lil too.
i always find copper on my runs, 100-200 skills

Finally found some azzurdite, not on amethera tho. But anyways i hope that more miners find some of those "rare" ores. When the ores are there, miners are happy , crafters are happy, community happy! And PE will become fun again

Coz the prices for crafted items are really getting ridiculous high now.
Ie a "simple" ek2350 tt+200, c'mon you almost have to be uber to buy something like that.

Well happy mining all!

please understand im not asking for "proof" of anything. I ask for nothing more than a counter hypothesis to mine. saying the ore isnt there is only half the issue. Why make mid level crafters require rare ores? Im not even saying your wrong, just asking what the consequences for that would then be.

That 5 individuals say the same thing only goes so far: one contrary example is all it takes for them to be wrong. My thoughts are that its possible the established miners and most others use the same methods, and that those methods may not be effective. Think about it, who taught you to mine, who have you taught to mine?

The alternative is that MA is some sort of masochist company that likes to piss people off and spends loads of developer and artist time on stuff that cant be used.
