starting up

hey, i was thinking of starting mining up with the extra peds i have, but the more i hear about it, the more i hear that it is all luck, or, it requires alot of knowledge of good areas, which are "claimed" by more experienced players. I know i am probly just bringing up the same topic over again, but i want to know if it is a good profession for someone to start at this point. Also, i would like to hear about theorys and methods on mining, like, my soc mate told me he looks for places that would have deposits, like around water and rocky areas, which i thought was a random superstition that he had.

Mining is 100% luck, 100% skills, 100% who knows what (some would say Lootius smiling down on you.) I know that's 300%, I'm using MA's math. Check out the ATH list, or read here about the 3 day old Avi that got a 97000 ped ATH.

A lot of people have a lot of theories on this. As varied as there are people in the game. Do what is right for you. If you try it and like it then maybe it is for you. I don't know what your skills are, but personally I would work more on your hunting skills until you reach about 2000 in rifle, handgun or longblades. That way you have the skills to defend yourself while mining.

There are more theories in this forum topic than there are stars in the sky, and I'm talking the RL sky. Start reading but be prepared to be confused. VERY confused. Seriously. There are some very good theories here. Read them, try a few of them, then decide what works best for you and carry on.

Basically, do what feels right and what you enjoy. Have fun

Well its up to you, experimenting is needed with everything. Theres luck, skills, tools, location, and how you apply what you've learned involved.

I thought the same things at 1st, but since then I decided to try mining, and I like it. Helps of course to hit a 3050 ped mining hof in the beginning, but if I didnt try I wouldnt have gotten it. If I can you could, and and will at some point, same with hunting, sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you dont. But if you expect to lose, gaining is that much sweeter.

Mining can drain ped fairly quick though to be honest (as can crafting,hunting ect), so make sure to research some information before you start. It can also make your ped climb fairly quick as well though. Every profession has ups and downs, if you lose now you'll gain at some point, and vise versa. For me, it tends to be pretty balanced over a length of time.

Every answer you need is here, and more threads re-explaining other threads isnt prudent, you are on the right track though by asking 1st.
Search the forums for your answers, alot of detailed information, theories and comments on the subject. Be prepared though EU is complex and its easy to get overwhelmed by the information.
As far as thoeries, you could get your own as you do it, where at least its your thoery based on what you find out along the way. Or, if you find one that works stick with it.
