The slope makes it so that the cylinders have an egg-like shape. The direction they are facing depends on the mining areas, which are not the same for each server.

The highest detection range is 57 meters sharp, the lowest is 43 meters sharp. You are bound to detect the deposit if it is within the detection range.

tl;dr :

If you don't find anything, try 86 (43x2) meters away N/W/E/S.
If you find something, 43 meters is enough.

If you run for 50 meters or more after a successful find, you might miss the so-called "43-meters sloping" deposits if there are any.

Well, the bad thing with bombs is that you have to get away from your bomb in order to detonate it. Although the detection range is only calculated from the bomb's coords, the displayed range is calculated from your avatar's coords.

It is easier to see the maximum range with a probe, as you can "press the button" right on top of them

Etopia said it was 67 meters for a noob... and then added 67 meters for everyone, including top miners. Odds are that skills don't have anything to do with the range, but we still need an experienced miner to confirm this.

However, make sure you remember that going for the maximum range is not a good idea at all. You can be sure that you won't scan the same area twice (or more) this way, but you will miss deposits. Odds are extremely low, but missing a rich deposit just because of a 7-meter difference is painful, even if you cannot know that it was there (unless there is someone mining in the same area at the same time )

oh dear, here we go again i was talking about the range of the bomb, not about ur range of detection. if u put a bomb on the ground, and don't detonate it, the closest u can put only after 100 m. why?

Oooooh -that- is what you mean by bomb range? :O I didn't figure out quite what you meant with it before.

Isn't that just a fix to prevent people from filling the towns with undetonated bombs?
