Several things added and a few updates.
EDIT: OK, I figured I would expand the guide a little and add some screenshots of the proffessions at work. Enjoy, and hope they help. If anyone else has some good screenshots of the pros at work they would be greatly appreciated. Also I would like to give another huge THANKS to MB for giving us this great place. (and the unlimited upload for pics! wow, I got a ton in there )Last edited by DeusDeOnis; 05-13-2006 at 04:57.. |

First you need the equipment for mining, personally I use the 101's but the TT stuff works fine for now. Here are the sets you will need:
Ore mining: Ore finder(detector), Or miner(extractor), and lots of bombs. Click to enlarge Click to enlarge Click to enlarge EnMatter mining: Matter finder(detector), Matter drill(extractor), and lots of probes. Click to enlarge Click to enlarge Click to enlarge Note that you can get 1bomb/ped or 2 probes/ped. (bought at TT of course) Last edited by DeusDeOnis; 02-20-2006 at 15:58.. |

Once you have the equipment you need, and the bombs it is time to find an area to search. There are a few well known areas, but mostly it will be trial and error to find places that work for you.
First you equip the OreFinder, then just aim and shoot; This drops the bomb which will scan the area for minerals: Click to enlarge If something is detected a special radar will pop up like such: Click to enlarge I have colored this one for easier explaining (at least for me :P). One of the arrows will be blinking, walk or run in that direction, if one of the other arrows starts to blink turn that way until the top one is blinking again(red one) and do this until the range indicater drops to close to 0. Once you have found the spot from the radar all of the arrows will blink together (should be close to 0 on range now): Click to enlarge Then a claimrod will appear along with a claim deed. You can go into the documents section of your inventory to find the deed, it will tell you where the claim is and what size/type it is (in case you die and need to get back to it or such): Click to enlarge Once you locate the claimrod, equip the OreMiner and start extracting your find: Click to enlarge Click to enlarge Again just aim and shoot with the claimrod targeted to extract, keep this up until it is depleted and you should have a nice new supple of ore. (In the pic I found some blausarium, very nice stuff) |

This is basicly the same as the ore mining, only you will need the probes instead of bombs (and of course matterfinder/drill).
First equip the finder, then drop a probe to scan the area: Click to enlarge If something is detected you will get the same kind of radar as in ores, just for matter: Click to enlarge Same process as ore, follow the arrows, turn as needed, until they all blink and you get your claimrod: Click to enlarge Once you get the claim (also get a deed here, same as ore, can be found in inv for info), you equip your MatterDrill and start extracting. Then it it just the same as ore from there, aim and shoot, keep extracting until you get it all. Then you just find another area to bomb or probe and keep going like that, repeat the process for either ore or matter (I do both in intervals) as needed. One thing that may help is to keep track of what you find where (something I need to start doing ), if you print up the maps I linked to you can mark them with your finds for future trips. There are a few places you can look up what is where, I'll post some links when I refind them. Enjoy! And happy hunting... errr mining that is ![]() |

Ok on to hunting, one of my favorite past times ingame.
First you will need to find a weapon you like, for this I just used the basic handgun from TT (note that ranged weapons require ammo also, item stats will tell what kind it uses and how much. Ammo can be bought at TT also): Click to enlarge Next you need to find a creature to kill, and equip the weapon: Click to enlarge If you fire from a distance like this the creature will run at you and attack most otf the time (there are a few that run away). Click to enlarge Here is one of the actual shot being fired just because it looks cool: Click to enlarge After you do enough damage the creature will drop dead: Click to enlarge After the kill, you can right click the body to loot the creature. You will get a ton of the no loot found message: Click to enlarge But have faith and keep at it you will find something eventually. Sometimes you will find cash:
Click to enlarge Sometimes you will find items: Click to enlarge Sometimes you will find both. It's just a matter of finding the right thing to kill at the right time. (about 50%luck/50%skill and items, or thereabouts) Ok got some pics of melee fighting as well now. First you will need the weapon of course, I used the TT powerfist here: Click to enlarge Then you just get close to the creature and go to town, aim and click just like in ranged combat: Click to enlarge Click to enlarge Then you finish it off and loot away! ![]() Last edited by DeusDeOnis; 02-21-2006 at 02:46.. |

Now for my personal favorite, crafting. First you will need to refine your materials if you mined them. You can buy them already refined to save time.
I use the basic TT refiner for ore: Click to enlarge Activate the refiner buy aiming and clicking just as you do a weapon: Click to enlarge Place your materials in and hit the refine button: Click to enlarge A loot window will pop up with the finished, usable, material. Note that ore takes 3 per refined, and enmatter takes 2 per refined. |

I mostly work on components from the equipment book so that is what I will show you today. The other books are used the same. First you need to buy the book and some blueprints (BP). In order to use the BP's you must place them in the appropriate book first. Once you have the BP book ready and materials look for a crafting machine:
Click to enlarge Right click to activate it and the menu will open. Double click the book you wish to use to open it: Click to enlarge Then find your BP and left click to place it into the machine for use: Click to enlarge Now it is time to add the materials listed. Simply drag them from inventory into the crafting window: Click to enlarge Note: You can set the level of quantity vs. condition for crafting. This will affect whether you make more or better repaired items. Also on the left side of the craft menu is the bar for success rate, higher skills and better BP quaility will increase this bar making it easier to craft that item. Once you get the materials and BP in place, there are several outcomes that you may get from crafting attempts.
A failure, where your materials are used with no return: Click to enlarge Near success, where you get part of what you use back, or residue: Click to enlarge Success, where you make the desired item: Click to enlarge Note that when crafting you may get other items in the loot window along with the item on a success. This is where you will loot your BP's from if you don't want to have to buy them. Last edited by DeusDeOnis; 02-21-2006 at 03:14.. |
