I've been sweating up until now, and keep on sweating because I can't seem to decide on a profession. I feel a little like when I was in college trying to figure out what major I wanted to go into.
I know there is no "best" EU profession, just like there is no single best job in real life. It all depends on what you enjoy. So here are some things that might make a difference on which is best for me... I'm not very coordinated and in order to get anywhere any any first-person-shooter game I need to put it on easy. Does hunting need any kind of this kind of video game coordination? Or is it like sweating in that you point, click and let the game percentages go to work? My playing time isn't very regular. I only have one or two days a week where I can play for a nice large block of time. Most of the time I can only get on for about an hour. What are your thoughts on the best profession for me based on this information? How did you go about deciding on what you do in the game now? What do you like about it? |

Just try them all and see what you like best. It might take you a while to decide. I would suggest starting with hunting and/or mining, leave crafting till later.
Being on for an hour at a time isn't ideal though. I tend to hunt for 2-3 hours at a time. Crafting might actually be a better option when you're struggling for time because you don't have to run around the place and you can do crafting runs with a small amount of clicks (doing 500 clicks on a single BP generally takes about an hour). |

I think the amount of money you have to invest could play a part in your decision also. I've been playing about 2 1/2 years and I find that hunting is least expensive, followed by mining, then crafting. I agree with Oleg, that crafting may be better for the time you have to invest, but it may not be the best for the money you are willing to spend. If you are limited on money, I would probably suggest hunting. Just my 2 pecs.

As I see it, mining and especially crafting are/is boring.
Hunting gives more adrenaline Buy opalo and pixi reperair of it is cheap. Then go and some mobs![]() |

Hunting only gets complex when you are hunting other gd's. You have to manage your health too, depending what you want to hunt. I find hunting most exciting and by far the most complex. All professions are simple to begin with
Whatever works for you :) |

I think hunting is the most economic of the professions, but I suggest you try them all (when you have a bit of cash to throw around of course).
With hunting you can spend only a few PECs to kill small mobs with small guns (opalo + A101 is great for a LONG time) and pixie armor. Mining requires at least 50 PEC per drop (for enmatter, 1 full ped per drop for ore), and crafting simply does not profit until you can craft high end equipment and sell for markup. I'd start sweat-hunting if I were you. Sweat a small mob until it is dry, then kill it. Very easy, very simple. P.S. Do you have a mentor? |

Hunting looks almost like sweating, except you need some equipement, and you have to click aiming at mob when weapon reloads (and it reloads faster than sweating
). Mining is completely different, you take your equipement and then go to the wilderness to drop probes/bombs, you change the place all the time, going from point A to point B. I think mining gives less chances to loose your peds, but still sometimes requires a bit of shooting on the way. So I would recommend starting with hunting, learning it and then buying some mining equipement. If you don't have much time, it's perfect: you just choose one area or rather one road and go there mining. Pretty peacefull and you have also chance for exploring and seeing interesting places ![]() |
