good luck and dont give up

I had a lot of trouble too when I first started. My mentor was not on much and I was ready to give up as it was all too confusing.

then I made some friends and they were great and helped by answering my unending questions.

One way without a mentor to learn from... is hang out at Sweat Camp which is near Port Atlantis .... its an outpost so no teleporter there. But just reading the chat and asking questions there does help a lot and you learn quickly besides sweating and gaining skills while you're doing it.

Another way was I joined a society that was very helpful with noobs and we did a lot of teleporter runs which is great .... getting tp's on your map is a good advantage for portability.

When looking for a mentor... find out what time zone they're in, their play schedule and language. This is important to get the most out of the mentor/disciple relationship.

Good luck.

Ok guys, very quick update for anybody that is still interested and thanks for all of the support - it is very welcome.

Managed to sell my first 1K sweat to make my first PEDs. Travelled to Twin Peaks to do it because my mentor advised that I would be less likely to get ripped off there and I might get a bit more cash for it. As luck would have it some kind person who read this thread earlier saw me there with my amaturish attempt at advertising my wares and obviously took pity on me and paid me a very generous 0.7 for it! Also talked to them for a while which was a good help.

TPs picked up so far:

Billy's Spaceship !!!!!!!!!!
Orthos West Mound
Camp Phoenix
Zychion Citadel
East Scylla Mountains
Twin Peaks
Jason Center
Limnadian District
Fort Fury

Had big problems picking up Limnadian using the advised routes from Alice's guide and the Viking map. Ended up getting there from Jason Center by going through the middle of a bloody great swamp, tough going but I just made it. Having real problems getting to Medusa, keep running into some things that look like big flies, worst thing is that you can't get rid of them by jumping into water.

Gained another 1000 sweat that I'll likely be selling at Twin Peaks later if there are any more kind people out there. What are people's opinions on perhaps buying 1K sweat from the camp for 0.5 and then attempting to sell it for profit somewhere else? I'm just thinking that if I'm making the run anyway it might be worth doing just to pick up a very little chunk of extra profit.

First thing that I'm thinking of investing in is the TT FAP which I might get later.

As you say, some kind person paid you .7. I doubt they would be so kind to a reseller

Enjoyed your story so far. Have fun and good luck

Welcome

Be careful reselling...trading is good, reselling is bad. I know they sound alike but they are not really the same thing.

Anyone out there care to point out the difference?

Hmm ok, not sure if I understand this. If I buy at say 0.5 and sell at 0.6 then I make a very small piece of profit right? How would somebody else know if I was reselling something that I bought from somebody else?

Reselling is a term used in EU that is not like the one in real life. Reselling in EU is ripping someone off and trading is, well, reselling in real life (which is trading).

Stupid terms don't you think?

Welcome Bob,

I will now introduce the evil concept of the resellers to you

If u buy low sell high you are reselling wares, This isnt bad as long as you make sure to stick to some ethics.

What typical reselling is, Wait at auction all day if something cheaps comes on buy it and relist it 1 min later at a higher price.
Resellers come here for the cash, their only goal is make money of the game, and get this out. causing extra inflation and ofc removing money from the game.

Traders are often looking for certain types of items in which to run a sort of business, and often have people they are sort of working for. Alot of crafters by from people who are looking for ores on the street for them, and they can make a profit on this.

So If you are smart you can ofc make a extra buck, I would encourage you to do so. So if you see someone selling cheap sweat in sweat camp and you know someone who buys all at a certain price, Imo nothing wrong with that.

Anyway, If you want to get a taste of hunting/mining I can show you around a bit, and prolly help you out with getting some tp's that are hard to reach aswell.

Just drop me a pm, I am online alot, and certainly at the same times as you are.

Best of Luck Bob
