Buying low and selling at or near market is not frowned upon this is just good business sense. Often people do not want to take the time to sell items so they sell it under Market Value. If the buyer has the time and patience to sell that item at Market Value then they are entitled to their profits. Reselling is basically market manipulation, buying large quantities of items and selling them at an above market price. These market manipulators often watch the Auctions and buy any items that undercut theirs. This is extremely frowned upon by most in the community.

Edit: Refer to Cyco's post I think it is a better explanation

Ahh ok now I'm getting it...

Just to make it clear (if I haven't already on previous posts), I've got no interest in sitting round all day looking at auctions to try to make a fast buck in real life. I'm playing the game for enjoyment and I'm more than happy to pay a small amount of real life money to do so.

One of the things that I've discovered today is Rep! I've just gone through this thread and given everybody on it who has offered me advice or good luck some until I hit a limit. I'll go through the rest of it another time to make sure that I don't miss any of you guys out that have been so kind in my first few days in EU.

(It's not just the damn game that I need to learn lol)!

Good to hear. Forget about trying to make a profit buying and selling and just hunt/mine.

Great to hear you are getting into the game and enjoying it.

I'd highly recommend finding a good society to join - they will help you alot to learn faster and also to make some friends. My advice is to try and find a soc that has a varied membership from around the world - the result is that anytime you log on you will have soc members to talk to as opposed to everyone from one country that logs on at the same time. The other benefit is that EU provides a magnificent platform to get to know people from around the world - share their RL experiences and learn from them.

Finding a good society is not always an easy thing to do. Have a look through this thread (lots of people who have been really helpful to you) and take note of what societies they are from. Then look out for members of their societies in game and randomly go have a chat with them to get a feel for what the society is about. You can also go to the society terminal and look up the info pages of the societies to find out about what their goals etc are to make sure they match yours. Another option may be to join up with your Mentors soc or they may have friends that they can recommend. Many of the better socs will only accept applications from people who come recommended.

GL out there

Ok, I've had a pretty damn dissappointing night.

Failed to sell my sweat, could have taken a measly 0.5 for it but because I'm pretty tight I didn't bother.

Had a chat with my mentor who kindly gifted me some armor. Decided to go down the hunting route. He advised me of what to buy then had to go so I decided to spend some time fully reading Alice's guide to hunting. Wrote a load of notes down on what I intended to buy and at what price I should be looking for using some of the various resources you guys have provided on this thread.

Now the downer... Went to deposit and failed... Sounds stupid but I stuck in my credit card details in the deposit area and then it asks for an authorisation code that I apparently get from my statement. Took a look at my statement and it's nothing like the crappy example shown on the screen. I can only imagine it's because UK statements are different from US ones, are there any Brits out there who can help here? Looked for FAQs etc on the website and forum couldn't find any that would help.

So, using my hugely inadequate 7 PEDs I bought myself an Opalo, repaired the armor and spent the rest on ammo (133). Got wasted trying to shoot an Exarosaur after getting it down to about half health but did gain some skills. Noticed that it completely trashed amy armor that I'd lovingly repaired. Decided to go after a young Combibo next but after firing about 50 shots at the damn thing I didn't hit it once. Gave up with a crappy 26 ammo remaining.

Anyway, that's me signing off for tonight. I need to work out how to deposit or else I'm going to have to sweat it out the hard way... (Pun intended).

Bob,

Its been awhile (2 years or so) since I registered my credit card, but it used to be that you could still make some small deposits without entering that obscure authorization code. I did that for a few months until I finally dug out the old credit card statement. It still required the 3 digit code on the back of the card though and I was limited to only making deposits via the website.

At first glance, it appears you could still do that now through the website. I don't have another card I want to try it with, but it may still be do-able.

Hey bud,

I do not think it shows immediately on your online statement,
Not from the UK here, but it took a few days first for my transaction authorisation to come through (Though was able to make an initial deposit through the website)

To make deposits within EU you need to enter the auth code that comes on the printed statement to you, it will be printed on the statement itself where the transaction for mindark is listed. (or online statement after the funds have gone through the standard few days auth routine)

Enter that into the website and whola you can now deposit from within EU. Until such time that you receive this code to enter, deposits are restricted from the website only.

Anyhow to make a deposit into the system for now, you need to do it from the left hand action pane menu -> Deposit ... Entropia Universe

~ Sparkz

PS. Also ring your bank to make sure you have the VISA international purchases verification active. This is a worldwide security system in place on all VISA cards. Some banks automatically enable it, others request that their client call them to activate it.

You know, my sister ran this avatar before I took over - she put in her credit card details and never recieved that autherization code, but got by on making the limited monthly withdrawels that were allowed.

When I took over the avatar I also put my own credit card details in and again, never recieved that code. Since then I discovered UKash and make all deposits this way. Easier, quicker and for you as a first time user you would also get a free weapon and ammo for using it, even if you only put in a quid or so.

To use UKash go to almost any corner shop or most grocery stores (Tesco don't have it tho) and ask at the counter - often they don't know where to look for it on the switch machine - tell them it's under the "E-money" section and they spot it straight away.

Sorry you bad night ...it can be like that.

I don't know about UK credit card statements , but in Netherlands & BE the code doesn't appear on the statement itself. However if the look at the details on the 'Mindark PE' transaction you will see it(online I mean).
At the time I first deposited the max was only $10 usd before authorisation is needed)
Ukash is a good option.

I would advise you to stick to Exosaurs & Daikibas when solo or team hunt Combibo & above ( assuming you only have pixie or mix of armour). It's not good shooting something that you can not kill.

p.s. if 0.5 is the current price for sweat there is not much you can do to chance that.
