I can only imagine it's because UK statements are different from US ones, are there any Brits out there who can help here? Looked for FAQs etc on the website and forum couldn't find any that would help.
You should be able to make a small deposit of $10 or $20 without the authorization code.
If this failed you will need to send a support case from the website.
When you have made this deposit and assuming you are looking at an online statement, you will need to wait until the transaction is completed (ie: no longer pending) in my case this took 2-3 days. Then you will need to phone the CC company to get the activation code.

This was my experience with a prepaid UK mastercard. hope it helps

By getting the rest of your armor you will notice a large increase in your survivability against Dai and Exas. The Goblin I told you about is more for the Snables that do acid damage. For most mobs though Pixie is a good starting armor. When hunting at first try to stick to Young-Mature Exos anything higher at this stage with an unamped opalo will take seemingly forever to kill. If you do get the deposit working then I would get the tt-FAP and the rest of the pixie parts you need for the complete set. Eventually you may want to get an A101. It is a good investment and you will definately get your use out of it when skilling a little later on. The rest should go to ammo. Skilling in EU is everything. The more skills you have the better stuff you can use. There are other threads about recommended "Top Noob Items." Good luck.

Well in my opinion, you shall not hunt with armor when you are soloing. Cus armor got decay which is so unecessary since you can use the vivo t1 form TT instead and get some skills that you will need anyway for the price of the armor decay.

I remember when i started to play. Back then I didnt even use a fap, I just waited, watched some TV or something when I was too low on HP to fight. Then when i had regain the HP I continued with my hunting, and after 2-5mobs I had a downtime again :P

Well well, I recommend you to buy a vivo t1 instead of the armor since the armor gives you nothing but decay

I agree that the Vivo T1 should be the priority. But Pixie is an armor that is relatively cheap has a decent decay rate for the protection it provides and will enable him to stay alive longer to take more hits and possibly take on slightly larger mobs. IMO, There is nothing more frustrating than burning ammo into mobs and getting them near death and then dying yourself.

To make deposits within EU you need to enter the auth code that comes on the printed statement to you, it will be printed on the statement itself where the transaction for mindark is listed. (or online statement after the funds have gone through the standard few days auth routine)

Enter that into the website and whola you can now deposit from within EU. Until such time that you receive this code to enter, deposits are restricted from the website only.

Anyhow to make a deposit into the system for now, you need to do it from the left hand action pane menu -> Deposit ... Entropia Universe

PS. Also ring your bank to make sure you have the VISA international purchases verification active. This is a worldwide security system in place on all VISA cards. Some banks automatically enable it, others request that their client call them to activate it.

Once again, thanks for all the help with depositing, if I were allowed to give Rep out I'd give you all some but I've reached my daily limit!

As far as the hunting goes, I realised before I went out last night that it would probably be a disaster because my 7 PEDs were totally inadequate to equip me.

Anyway, I decided before I was unable to deposit last night that I would buy the following:

Opalo with ammo
Goblin Armor
TT FAP
A101 Amp

I've seen conflicting reports about whether to actually use armor or not when hunting alone. I'll start off by giving the armor a go considering that my shooting skills are crap and I can't hit a donkey's arse with a banjo at the moment.

Where is the best place to buy the armor and the amp and what kind of price should I be looking to pay for it. I've taken prices from Entropedia and written them down - are these correct?

Hi Ozi

Thanks for the advice mate, good to an antipodean in the game, I spent a few months travelling around Aus a few years ago and it was the greatest experience of my life.

Societies are something that I've deliberately put to one side up until now. Mainly because the learning curve has been so steep that I've felt that I'm better off learning a bit about the game before I worry about a society.

Now that you've mentioned it though I wonder if I could ask a few simple questions about societies. I assume that they are similar to clans, factions or families that I've come across in the few other online games that I've played. I'll do this as a list for simplicity.

I assume that societies are inbuilt into the game?
How many are there in total?
What is the best way to find out about them?
Once you join one are you "stuck" to it or can you change?

(I've taken note of what you've put below by the way and I know that some of the above questions duplicate what you've advised, I'd just like some more info).

One of the main problems that I've got as a noob is that I'm pretty reluctant to bug people in the game itself. By writing on here people can either choose to read or ignore what I'm putting. I'm also keen to maximise my game time by getting skills etc.

I've been in the position myself in recruiting people in a text based online mafia game that I used to play called Omerta. I'll talk more about this in my next reply on this thread. It was absolutely crucial in that game that the people that you recruited were good.

Anyway, thanks very much for the advice.

Bob

I'd highly recommend finding a good society to join - they will help you alot to learn faster and also to make some friends. My advice is to try and find a soc that has a varied membership from around the world - the result is that anytime you log on you will have soc members to talk to as opposed to everyone from one country that logs on at the same time. The other benefit is that EU provides a magnificent platform to get to know people from around the world - share their RL experiences and learn from them.

Finding a good society is not always an easy thing to do. Have a look through this thread (lots of people who have been really helpful to you) and take note of what societies they are from. Then look out for members of their societies in game and randomly go have a chat with them to get a feel for what the society is about. You can also go to the society terminal and look up the info pages of the societies to find out about what their goals etc are to make sure they match yours. Another option may be to join up with your Mentors soc or they may have friends that they can recommend. Many of the better socs will only accept applications from people who come recommended.

GL out there

Ozi

Hehe, thanks for the advice.

As I've said in my previous post, I used to play an text based online game called Omerta. That was pretty serious stuff. Basically you spent days and days doing all sorts of repetitive stuff to build up your character (no fancy graphics or anything - all text). Get this though - it was literally a 24/7 game, you could spend literally weeks and months building up a character to a decent level and get shot while you were offline. This meant starting from scratch, at least EU isn't like that. :-)

Anyway, I've not really mentioned any real life stuff but now seems as good a time as any to do so. Basically I've been off work since Christmas as a result of some minor surgery. It seemed like a good time to start up on EU. I've got another week before I'm back at work, after that it will be as you say I reckon!

(My wife has been pretty understanding over the last week as I've been unable to do much else anyway, that will no doubt change when I go back to work)! I've spent time with my kids in the evenings lol.

Anyway, now that I've deposited I plan to have another all-nighter. I'm going to start off by trying a few TPs (I really want to get all of those in the middle of Eudoria). After that I'll start kitting myself out for hunting and give it another go with some better equipment.

Many thanks

Bob
