About what has been named the note event.


You may be in the middle of an historic event.


Never before has this situation accrued, never before in history could this have happened.

Let me for a second provide you with a kinda different perspective? Just for a minute or two, please?



Either:
Conspirare is in fact cooperating with MA. Together they're deliberately trying to provoke a one week strike from the game.
Why?
Just that question, and stay with it for a while please.

Or:
MA's infact not cooperating with Conspirare and/or The Others.
Very unlikely, but still worth to consider nevertheless. Especially since it's the only other option we've got...
That would need a group (called The Others for instance) to actually infiltrated EU and somehow be able to regularly hack MA's servers, at their will.

Ergo; we've got two really equally unlikely options to chose from...

I don't know about you, but that alone kinda intrigues me.

In the first option: MA and another company are actually creating a coup d'état in this Forum..against them self. .
It means that they, if so, staging a psychological and social anthropological experiment of immense magnitude. This is a huge risk for MA. But they may have greats rewards coming from this... but still a lot at stake.

In the second option: MA is controlled by supreme forces.
Well, what can I say but: Hey, let me in on it! Please!"

Seriously.
The thing that's happening right here, right now has never happened before. A revolution against a game and the supreme power itself has been declared, on a forum that you are a participant in.
Whether option one or two, it's still happening things here and now which never ever before happened in the history of mankind.

And as far as we can I can see...nothing can answer one of the first and most basic questions you have to ask in this matter:
Who's benifits?

And that my friends, is quite interesting indeed.

post read but i fail to see how a 3rd party hacked MA, added the note codes, which mobs they drop from, add them to new items hof board, added the notes images without MA either do anything or warning us about these "hackers."

Lets face it if these are hackers in MA or outside... i want my cash back in notes..... since obviously the games not secure then.

I find it highly unlikely this has happened.


Provoke a strike? what strike.... just because 3 mindark officials log in spurt some random role playing to the event. the entire of eu gonna go on strike? i doubt even 100 will do that

The people that benefit are the tv show for advertising in a swedish based game.

The onlything historic is the pure volume of silly theories

Its a planned event.... the benefits are advertising and increased turnover for MA during the event.. eg the ammo burn on the mutated chirpy event when ppl shot and used ammoo but shots didnt register cos of lag.

Besides its funny how MA announce umbra doing a bunk for a while and then suddenly these events appear at 1-2 of the umbra camps

I cant see many boycotting EU cos of the "event" its all roll play on MA part... besides theyll drop the loot output during this time to compensate for those that for some reason do boycott.

MA wont lose out..... funny how nothing like this happened then suddenly after new VU bang....... it happens.

Do you have an idea how much it would cost MA to actually have 100% loss for an entire week? In comparison with what they possibly can gain from this as a simple publicity stunt? I'm not a business man of that caliber, but I think many people can agree with me that the odds wouldn't exactly be in MA's favor gaining from that deal. That leads me to believe there's a hidden agenda behind this.
I'm just trying to see beyond the smoke screen.

well, i am following this closely thanks to the efforts of those that want to play along. i am not sure where this is going, but i am going to be there as it happens or at least watching at work while it happens on the forum

i think i can handle not spending for a week. but honestly it will be real difficult to not fire a weapon or drop a bomb.

Actually, I thought of the anthropological experiment as well.
After the 2PEC decay, lots of people advised the community to stop depositing and spam MA with support cases as a way of complaining against the new decay. (So far, they've changed the decay on armor)

I suppose they're making this experiment to see if the community is likely to follow such an advice from a more... "solid" source/authority (E.G: MA itself).

Otherwise, MA officers would have put a stopper to it already, don't you think?
As Marco just proved, they do pay some attention to the forums (Frank answering at long last "Community Help" after we pointed it out on the last Photo-Challenge; or his posts at "Massive Argo Spawn at the Orb").

Assuming that MA knew that these guys were going to say what they did, and also that it means that they want a boycott/strike/whatever that involves no deposits....MA may have done the maths and found that PR makes it worthwhile in the long term, or they can run some invasions or events to encourage deposits either before or after to balance it out.

Another much more likely option is that first line saying "that this is all lies" is in fact true.

MA wouldn't allow anything that even hinted at them being hacked...and anyone who could do that would have better fish to fry than silly games ...they could rob EU blind without telling MA about it even in cryptic ways. If it were possible and someone made that public knowledge ...so much for the RCE in a secure universe claims that appear in any and all MA promotions for EU, that would be shot to bits.

Some folk may be hanging on every word these 3 loons come out with, but most of us aren't..it's just a little interest to some and no interest to many others. If the believers all stopped depositing as this seems to ask, it wouldn't be everyone by a long way and wouldn't damage MA very much. It could however lead to balancing to correct any downward fluctuations in income....MA could easily do that, but they would be likely to do it across the board to all people ingame.

If MA had run into something unexpected and unplanned...I'm also pretty sure something would be said as a warning here by now too. Seems like all is just as they wish it to be even if we don't understand it.

Remember it's just a puzzle, a small part of a virtual game and you will be fine...lose track of that and begin to see reality in it and maybe you risk a six sided duvet one day when you wake

Ok, my thoughts

1. I don't give a shit on the current event, it may be nice but i don't feel concerned.
2. Some people actually did a nice job to resolve things as far as i read.
3. This event allow people to start their owns thread on a subject allready covered many times to collect EFD, call them EF whores.
4. MA has always acted funny or at least strangely. See the balancing(nerfing ) manager actions and the guy who format the HDD of the storyline's writter last year.
5. EU's existing player base activity is dropping, so they thought of something new for new perspectives.

From my perspective the whole note event is not much more than a cross-promotional exercise.

The main reason I believe this is because should some "other party" break into MA's systems, particularly the economic system (i.e. loot), then it shows the entire world that their system is insecure.

So if it had been hacked then right about now China and all the other companies lined up to licence the EU technology should be bolting in the other direction.

It is this fundamental concept of system security and what it means (i.e. everything) to a company like MindArk which rules out any sort of unsanctioned event.

Ok the event itself is taking a rather unusual turn but consider this:
There were only maybe 40 people at most actually at the last "ABC" babble-session.
The reading population of EntropiaForum is only a fraction of the total population of EU.

Thus even if everyone on EF who read the thing did some sort of 'boycott' or whatever, the total impact on EU would be minimal at worst.
