I understand completely DJ. Nothing is 100% safe on the internet ofc, but petition online is a well known and respected site, I have used it many times. They even send petitions to number 10, who then acknowledges them, so I think the site is safe.

I used Babel Fish to come up with this translation of the petition, a bit of a mess I'm sure but it at least gives the idea. Just use your intials or something to sign, it doesn't really matter that much I would think. When you do go to sign, the fields will also be in Spanish, and they are basically name, email address, town and country fields.

Snopes is unconfirmed on this story, last update there was October 20, 2007. Seems there was a dog on display, but it was fed and not mistreated. Still trying to find other information.

This petition is the same one that was circulating since at least Oct 15, 2007.

The story makes me sick, but I was trying to find confirmation from other areas to make sure it is not hoax and only collecting our email addresses or wasting time.

I found a bit more info. Seems hard to find much on any news source regarding this, a lot that have the same info as the OP here does dating back to Mid October to current dates. All pointing to the same petition. (The name in the OP is a little off, it is Guillermo Habacus Vargas).

There was an article in The Guardian UK that disputed the dog died.

His MySpace account has been deleted.

#1 problem with the internet is the inability to actually find the truth. if you can't trust the internet to tell the truth in the 1st place, how can you use it to prove it isn't the truth ????
