How is that art? I think it's mean and pointless to starve a dog. He should just put it down. I don't think killing animals for their fur is wrong, but starving a dog and calling it art is wrong.

I told my wife of this and she digged around quite a bit.
Apparently we are falling for a hoax here.

Its becoming clear that the time that passed at the exhibition was only 3 hours.
Also the director of the gallery assures that the dog was regularly fed.

My wife looked at one of the criticizing videos on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cBBu...eature=related) and stated:
This dog does not show the signs of thirst, a dog typically would be unable to close the muzzle.
That it stands up during the exhibition is also a strong indicator against a state of starvation.
Additionally its visible that fur is starting to grow back in some spots.


So, backed up with the statements of the gallery director I feel its safe to assume the artist indeed picked up a stray dog but instead of letting it die he in fact fed it.
But as he wanted to achieve the impression of a dying dog he fed the press the bullshit about the dog really dying.
As my wife is very well schooled in matters regarding animals I trust her knowledge about animals as she trusts mine with computers, if she tells me that the dog in that video is at least some days away from starving I chose to believe her.

This is not to say that the petition is wrong, oppositely so it shows that a lot of people do care.

Im not sure Pirx, I respect your opinion and your wifes..but..

I work with animals too, and to see this dogs pelvic bone so pronounced would suggest he is on the brink of starvation and death.

If I was to give an honest opinion, I would say they gave him water, as he doesnt look dehydrated, his eyes look healthy, but thats just about the most positive thing I could see.

The water would have perked him up some (s&it I hate to go on) also the strange environment, he's on his feet from the water, the fear, and to look for the chance of a meal.

I wish I could see something different, but I dont.

That is a starving dog, I hope he's ok, but I highly doubt it.

Even if he did try to save the dog, the damage done to the internal organs from starvation, may never be reversed.

who is sicker? the artist or the people who came to the show to see the "exhibit"?

Remember that art is intended to elicit a reaction from the audience.
So I believe, assuming this is true, the reaction of his "audience" speaks volumes.

Art is a message.

Rather than make an uproar to prevent the guy from doing the exhibit, there should be a movement to got to the show and feed the dog.

Change the art. Change the message.
