EU has given me some purpose, especially WOF. Almost gave me the feeling of representing again. I have always been an avid gamer and other games just feel like another way to pass the time. So yes I do feel EU can be very beneficial to the disabled.

In regards to it being beneficial to Alzheimers, from the studies I have read EU is a great fit there too. All of the most successful studies have related to slowing the natural (as in all brains) degeneration of neural links. The most effective way of achieving this is with a combination of hand eye co-ordination and future planning. Thats the primary reasoning behind gardining as one of the preferred activities.

Most games don't offer the future planning (being years not hours/days) aspect.

I have a better 1:
Entropia has helped the children in the third world earn their food and pay for their schoolarship-WEEEEEEEEE

Let me just remind that feeding a kid in the third world costs only 300 ped ped month.
It also makes some people vindictive and bitter...? (might i suggest you take a break btw, why the hell are you playing a "game/universe" if you think that little of it anyway? :p).
Besides if EU is getting someone fired, depressed or divorced or similar its hardly the games fault now is it... Its the person playing it that needs to get a grip (or help if thats the case). Regardless what one might think of the cost to play, MA, bugs blablablablabla theres noone holding a gun to their head forcing them to play im sure... And btw if EU got you fired from work (or any of the other stuff) im pretty sure theres no rule preventing you from writing about it on forums, as long as its done as a "proper post" (I.e. "OH NOES PKPK 711 MA SUCKZORS F*CK THE WORLD EU DEPREZZED ME" might not be a title to choose...).
Not saying i like all the rules here on EF, and i hate censorship as a general tool (unless its spam/abuse etc ofc), but its not that bad now is it... Dont think i ever had a censored post and i wrote some pretty harsh shit both about some people, MA and EU in my time here.

On topic: Offcourse it can help "keeping the mind busy" and help with coordination. Its been proven in several studies that computergames (or whatever you wanna call it) regardless if its roleplaying, mindless shooting, mmorpg like EU/WOW/SL/whatever, driving cars and beating the shit outta people in GTA with a bat or whatever tickles your fancy works in that manor, its also proven that it helps some children greatly that have problems concentrating and problems with coordination.
No ofc it wont help with your physical fitness... nor help people starving or deadly ill people... (Kind of a crap comparison to make?). And no i hardly think it can "cure" Altzheimers.
But there are beneficial things for sure if you treat a "computergame" as what its supposed to be (fun pasttime anyone? :P), EU being kind of special since it plans to still be around in 50years like OnTarget said.

edit: i see you removed your post while i was typing up mine Mayday :p If you want me to edit mine to reflect that please send a pm ?

lol Mayday just went off... I'm glad someone quoted him... I was wondering .

I overstated my point kinda.. but I think that EU or other MMORPG's can have a benefitial effect on humanity in general... there is So much of the Real World in these types of games, but in a milder sense... such as Entrepreneurship (spelling). Where else can you start a business and get some basic experience, with such a thing, for so cheap? And find out the results of your actions and plans without much risk. I mean... if you can run a business here.. I think it would be easier to in RL.... here people are MUCH more difficult to motivate.

I can well beleive that games like EU have a positive effect on the mind...

On the other hand , I know it occassionally gives me Tourettes Syndrome.
