why do they keep thinking their pets arrrrgh their working dogs

And the law sucks in cases of animal abuse in our country as well - you pay like some euros if someone reports you, but people don't even bother to do that.

Cheer up, all those animals that you saved are very thankful for that

ya, I've read a lot about this aswell... many breeders won't sell them unless they will be working dogs. But don't be down on me... I love Hobbes. And the key to a border collie, is to always give him tasks to do... as long as they aren't bored they are happy and we kayak, hike, walk, go to the lake everyday. So he gets plenty of physical activity... His herding nature is harnessed for the most part from playing fetch/frisbee etc... because he drops the ball or whatever, then goes and runs like 60 metres away and hiding in the bushes... watching me, waiting to throw it. Once I do, he darts out and snags it... it's the same as I've seen working dogs, and how they go way around and hide on the side, then come out and corral the sheep. And for the mental stuff, we are always playing games giving him something to do, and keeping his mind sharp like a tack He's almost 4 now, and has never chewed any furniture or been destructive at all. I haven't counted how many words he has learned, but it's amazing... I bet he knows close to 100 words. And the majority of those I didn't teach him, he just learned from me talking to him like he's a human.

We play hide-and-seek a lot... I can take, say, any toy... out of 20. I show it to him (don't let him touch it), and I say "go hide" and he will go hide somewhere in the house. Then I hide that toy somewhere, and say "go find it" and he will search until he finds that exact toy! it's genius, there could be 19 other toys around, but he'll keep looking til he finds the one I showed him! Then once he finds it, I grab a different toy, show it to him and do the same thing, and he will find the different toy... I don't understand how he is able to find it always? and not get it mixed up with all the other toys and scents...
