Fraps Video size to big

Hi Guys

Can someone help, I made a 3 minute entropia video using fraps and it came out at over 800 mb, anyone have any suggestions about any good (Free) programs to reduce the size (But not the video quality) ?

well the microsoft prog u get with the os does work but it's not the best but just google a bit and you should be able to find some free video editing soft.

Try the DivX Convertor, it's free. Web Site does a good job for YouTube
Windows Movie Maker creates Windows Media files easily as another option.

When you compress video you will always lose some quality, try to decide what you want to do with it and chose a compressed format to suite the purpose.

Do any editing before you compress it or you will lose even more quality and may not be able to edit it after compressing to some formats.

Vurtual Dub and some plug-ins will allow you to transcode to other video formats, resize, crop, alter framerates, and other good stuff like that.

...and it's free!

Arto, you're right. All editing should be done before transcoding for best quality.

Try Xvid, worked best for me. Used in alot in the days i created cs movies :P

I use fraps alot and all of the programs mentioned are really good and I have used them all, but the one I mainly use now is Win AVI. For me personally it has been the best. Very easy to use for somone like myself with limited expertise.

virtual dub and xvid/divx codec are the best for this purpose, imo.

then theres adobe premiere, for fancy editing...

but if you just need to convert it, premiere is overkill

i remember trying out an alternative to fraps once.. i think it was called 'gamecam'. it has built in real-time compression which makes files significantly smaller. it didn't have much impact on my performance even though i run a real oldish computer.

Super - seems fine for me - only one I ever used.
Dont forget to alter the watermark as you desire - the default id is 'ME' - click the direct show button near the top of the program to alter it.
