Terrible Mistake!!

Today I made a terrible mistake!

I wanted to make my house smell good, so I got out a candle I like.

The wick had mushroomed at the top, and instead of just clipping it off at the top, I used the scissors to try and scrape off the unwanted part.

This resulted in pulling off the entire wick, right down to the unmelted wax! Now I will have a teeny tiny flame that will not be able to melt the wax!

I don't know what I am going to do!

I entirely feel your pain and agony!
That mistake is one of the worst to happen for any candle-ist, next to having the candle break off the socket in the holder, when pressed too hard to fit a smaller hole.

However struck by sorrow you may be, my advice to you is as follows:
Let your nails grow for a couple of weeks, untill they are fit to scrape off some of the cold wax around the wick. Your nails will be strong enough to carve their way slowly into the wax, but (hopefully) not sharp enough to damage the tiny and delicate piece of wick.

oh man i feel for you! lol. get a knife or nail and dig out the wick. not as big of a deal as you might think

well, next time you wish your house to smell good, cleaning a little might be easier ?

Simple candle repair instructions.

Have the following tools on hand:

1 disposable lighter
1 blow-torch
1 pair leather gloves
1 roll of duct tape
2 pairs of pliers, a small and a large
1 large breed dog, Irish Wolfhound works best

Step one: Start by duct taping the candle and the disposable lighter together.

I just received a reply from my support case to the candle company:

Dear Mr. Ratae,

A replacement candle will be issued if a support case had been submitted at the time of breaking the wick. You will only need to pay a small fee to have the replacement candle issued.
