I need HELP with a new computer.

My 1gig, 70gb ATI Radeon x300 2.8ghz dell isn't going to cut it with the new crygen graphix coming out so I am looking for an upgrade.

I stumbled upon what I think is a great computer for the price, but i'm not to keen on computers nowadays.

I don't want to spend over 700$, but I want to put a major emphasis on the graphics card. I was wondering if somone could check this out for me and tell me if this is as great as I think it is, or maybe a better alternative.

your right to place the focus on graphics cards. i think you want nvidia 8800 and up for reasonable performance, however the linked PC is a low budget 8500 that i dont believe will cut it with cryengine. it also seem to think 8gb of ram is great, but this is massive over kill and you wont even be able to use it with windows without mucking about. suggests builder without real knowledge of what they are doing, avoid.

here you go .. same seller but a bit lower price i think..

http://cgi.ebay.com/AMD-X2-64BIT-DUA...QQcmdZViewItem

get this and just go buy a second of the same 85ooGT cards to drop in for SLI mode or even better think about going to a 9000 series video card.

www.newegg.com is one of the best place if you are in the US to buy from IMO. I usually order by noon EST Monday and have it in my afternoon UPS delivery on Wednesday.

Hmm, I woulden't buy off ebay. I would go to a local computer store get it custom. But if you can find it on Ebay i guess thats good too. My laptop runs crysis maxxed but it was quite a bit more than 700. However desktops are pretty cheap. If you ask me you would be best off buying something with the specs i mention below:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2Ghz or More.
2GB DDR RAM

Geforce 8600GT Comes in many versions, some versions are alot cheaper than others. But any 8600GT should do. But if you have a tiny bit extra to spend go for the 9600GT.

And then you want ur 200+gb hard drive and all that.etc

Heres one that seems good for 619.99$ has a 8600GT however no Operating System is included, but at the bottom it says you can include it for like extra 110$.

Thanks for all of the info it is definitely helping my decision.

I found this site helpful but is there a difference between a graphics card and a video card?
http://www.nvidia.com/object/graphic...s_buy_now.html

Few more questions.... Which is better AMD or Intel?.... should i do 2gb or 4gb? and finally, it says it doesn't include an OS but it comes with Windows XP, is there a difference?

If anyone else has any suggestions i would appreciate it. Im not limited to eBay either, if someone can find me a nice comp. on newegg or something i would greatly appreciate it.

Amd vs Intel will get various opinons and can turn into a binfest from fanbois. i hope mine is fair: it doesnt really matter. im a AMD fan due to appreciation of better technology, but in the current generation Intel is better performing at the top end. in the mid range (where you are), theres nothing in it really. Go for 4GB but no more. actually more than 3GB is a waste unless you faff about with settings in 32bit OSs (windows).

Yes, Windows XP is the OS, so thats an odd thing going on there. id steer clear of such a vendor. problem with ebay is any old numpty can sell stuff there and you often see things that tell you the guy at the other end doesnt have a clue.

judging by you knowledge of computer boxy things id recommend you go to a local independent store for them to build you some thing to budget, you'll get decent support too.
