And that is my 'fuzz' on the subject. Overall, it seems to me that here on the forum is where everyone's 'real'. 99% of us tend to keep the rp part in-game only. When you start taking the rp into real life w/o the knowledge of everyone else, that's when people start getting confused, angry, and offended. What's to stop someone from coming up with a real sob-story, gaining pity and money, and then comeing clean saying 'I was only RP-ing! It's not my fault you all believed me and gave me money.'

And that's my final say. I will henceforth try to refrain from making any more comments, lest this thread become too off-topic and get locked..and that would suck. XP

I think it's a pretty lame thing to lie about your gender, age, and appearance and pretend to be someone else (who actually exists!).
I agree with Starfinder that trust is lost when someone acts that way.. I wouldn't be suprised if this was an attempt to get "gifts/freebies" in PE. Seems like most people who pose as "attractive females"(I hate pornstars) have an evil reason behind it.

Post as yourself.. this lying only gets you nowhere but downhill.

Yeah I agree it damages your trustworthyness if you get caught after claiming it was you.

But what if Starfinder didn't have such a broad knowledge of the adult industry? We might have never known and everything would be just fine. I judge people by their actions still and not by the looks they claim to have. I would never feel pity or lend someone something just because of his/her looks... And whether or not you put up your real picture, you can still play sob and get people to give you money. You can't rule out this kind of role-playing by asking people to post their real pics.

In this particular case of course she got caught, which DOES damage her thrustoworthyness at least for a period of time I think. But like Ona said:

To be clear I very much hope so too! But I wouldn't take it for granted (although I don't know anyone who's 'faking' but have seen plenty examples in the past).

And I really don't see how this damages gamerchicks' reputation. If people start BS you ingame because they think you're not really female, because of guys/girls doing this fake gender thing to get ahead, it's they who have a problem and not you, imo. The day people start exposing chicks who play as men I wouldn't be worrying about my reputation the least bit

The thing is... I honestly dont think this person had any scamming intentions.. trust me... but.. the fact of the matter is that such actions is the first step in "social engineering"...

Create a new persona... Get people to trust and like this person... Scam someone.. and start playing with your "real" avatar... (Or withdraw the money)..

I mean.. how long did Brynhild play before he cashed all of it out?

I know I have been hunting with him for ages.. then all of a sudden.. no more brynhild and Lameth stood there an Imp FF and god knows what pooer...


Thats why I have so much against people who claim they are someone they arent.... Cuz I have seen what it can lead to... Be honest.. if you cant, I always asume there is something dodgy going on.... Thats also why I always double check stuff that seems to be wrong....

As I said, the person who claim you are not who you say you are, are generally idiots. BUT! And this is something I ->HAVE<- experienced, is when someone shouts out in allchat with accusations that you are not who you claim to be, rumors spread. I had a incident like this about a year ago, and then suddenly the next day I had lots of people beeing extremly sarcastic, rude and such because they belived I was the one who lied, not the one spreading the rumor. They backed up the accusations with "facts", about me and Gnasher never beeing on at the same time etc... (we only have one comp, duh..) You see where Im going?

Like I said in a EP-thread I once made, at such times it almost seem that I would have to lie, and claim I was a boy, to be trustworthy. which is quite redundant. (is this the right word? Im not sure )

Today however, I have worked up a strong enuff reputation for this to not be a problem for me. But a year ago, I had a strong feeling I wanted to quit when strangers came up and claimed I was a liar.

Really, Ive been there, done that. And unless you have gotten this shit yourself you cant really see the problem, I understand that But I know Im not the only girl that have experienced this or similar.
