Even with that camera you will get crap images with a cheap lens on the front.

You will also need to buy decent cf cards 1gb+ if you plan on shooting raw, a couple of extra batteries, lots of HD space, image processing software etc.

It soon adds up and you can easily spend 2-3 times the amount of the camera body on extras.
Yea, i know, that's why the 20D is a little too much because i have already calculated the extras like two lenses, a 18-55mm, a 55-200mm (maybe a 70-300mm or 100-300mm instead), the "handgrib" for extra battery backup, and instead of a huge good quality telezoom lens i'm prolly going for the 2x extension also to get up to 400mm, not as good as a real 400mm lens ofcourse, but much cheaper.

I'm still not settled on if i'm going for the 55-200mm lens and the 2x extension, it will maybe be a 100-300mm lens and the 1.4x extension, the 1.4x have much better quality than the 2x according to reviews.

digi's are ok MB but imo there is nothing like the real thing. i jsut use an mamiya RZ pro and they are super nice if u want hi res. digi are jsut not up to par yet for hi res

but i do stuff like mag covers, large portraits ect.

interested to see how other ppl feel about the curretn quality of hi res digi's i think they are still too grainy and cost waaay too much...how much is that ZD anyway?

But the problem with non-digi cameras is that you have to buy tons and tons of films all the time, and have your own photolab or pay someone for making the pics for you.

And it's much easier and cheaper to crop, resize, enhance and whatever with digipics, and you can easily print them yourself.

For private photos as a hobby digicams rock, though many professionals have changed to digicams also now.

dont forget the crop factor of the camera doesn't give the true lens size.

good lens reviews here if you haven't seen it before:

My old man shoots girlies for some well known magazines and many of them have sent out memos saying they don't want film any more.
An image from a 1Ds Mk2 is far superior than a 35mm blown up to A4 size. Maybe not medium format, but certainly 35mm.
