I'm not about to debate science vs. religion, though it's a great topic to explore.
Personally, I look at this issue and others in a very simple manner: we, as humans, do not know what we are capable of. We use only 10% of our brain supposedly? When odd things happen, I do frankly think that SOME of those things may be related to something else that we frankly haven't a clue about. The Milky Way contains billions of stars... each of those may very well have planets and satellites around them... that's huge. We are mere ants, forever building our little sand holes while things are happening all around us. Yet, as ants basically, we are too small to detect when, say, a car drives by us... it's off our 'radar' so-to-speak. In any event, I digress off-topic. But in short, sure there are endless possibilities of what may exist in this universe and others, as well as what we are capable of ![]() Last edited by Svetlana; 09-12-2005 at 04:25.. |

About comparing religion and science, i'd say you can. Both are ways to define the world around you
![]() It occured to me that maybe religion and science describes the same things, and that what the two really disagree on is terms. Demons may just be the religious term for delusions? in this case they do seem to share some common traits; only the girl had them... |

![]() ---- Darkfire, if you compare science to religion you have to see science AS a religion, and thats where it gets paradoxal ![]() |

Not at all. You can choose to believe that the earth you're standing on is a planet created by an astonomical event, or that it's the creation of a diety. That's science vs religion
![]() You can believe in something because you've been taught so in church, or because you've had the solar system described to you, seen the planets in a telescope for yourself and so on. And about us not being advanced enough to see the whole truth yet; the planets that astronomers observed in their primitive telescopes over 200 years ago are still round... ![]() |

We will never know the whole truth about ourself. There will always be questions that cannot be answered with science, like "WHY do we excist, why here, why us" etc. For example "soul" is a religious element, but many non-religious belive we have one. And where does it go when we die? Is it MENT for us to know this while living at all, will nature ever allow us?
And you say Quote:
And just for the sake of it, while you say that we choose in which we shall belive in, wouldnt then also science be something that gives answers to craving humans, like religion has been pointed out so easily as by some here earlier in this thread? |

But doesn't religious people *know* god exist?
![]() We do choose to believe what we want. This is why so many people still believe in religion - it's not human nature to change our beliefs over a good argument. We may never know the full truth. Or maybe we will. But science will always strive towards finding out ![]() (us being here has something to do with some amino-acids starting to form primitive lifeforms a long time ago. The conditions this occured under have been replicated in a laboratory) |

But I think today alot of them are HOPING he exist, maybe before it was more of a common fact -today there is, like your example, alot of facts saying otherwise. I cant really answer to it since Im not religious. Maybe some are 100% convinced there is some higher force but that would take a heap of strong faith to not fall to the fact-trend of today. Its interesting to see how in some regions of the world its more belivers then other regions. |
