I find EU and EF help out in all aspects of our every daily lives, so I figured it worthwhile to ask if there are any nutrition experts and/or people with personal training experience perusing the forums. I know most of my stuff, but a 1-on-1 basis would be very helpful, thanks in advance

![]() But I have done just about all the online researching possible; I want people who have studied nutrition and/or have many years of experience in it, and weight-lifting, cardio, etc. Im fairly knowledgeable, but still looking for an edge |

First up, always be sure to drink plenty of fluids. Note however that Sjoeblom Champagne should only be drunk in small quantites, at least from a health perspective point of view. Although many drinks are more interesting, water is the best thing to drink - and lots of it! If you find your home's water supply running dry I recommend sending a support case to MA. They may take a while to fix the problem though - in the meantime you'll have to acquire water from other sources. No doubt some avatars will try to charge you extortionate markup once they hear about your situation so don't fall for that! There's plenty of free fresh water all over the place - I recommend the lakes near Fort Zeus and Sakura for their freshness. Avoid sea water which will dehydrate you unless desalinated first.
Once you've taken care of your thirst, you'll need to eat some food to build up your energy reserves for some longu hunting. Whilst Atrox and Armax meat is very popular, they're not nearly as good for you as a few Rippersnappers. You should also be sure to consume plenty of fruit and vegetables - preferably in their raw form; a lot of the vitamins they provide are lost in the process of creating the popular nutrio bars. I recommend bombardoes which can be found lying on the ground all over the place and are very pleasant raw. Watch out for haimoros which is a bit too spicy for some palates. Also be aware that common dung can often be found in the same places as fruits - be sure not to eat this by accident in any circumstances! |

My guess is: most personal trainers are probably training other people at gym's, not sitting at their computer all day playing an RCE and posting in a public forum and gaining weight, unless they're pretty incompetent at what they do, and then I don't think I'd like to heed their advice...

As Jimmy said, lots of liquid, preferable plain water, and with the amounts of hours you spend on EU hunting have a bowl of fruits next to you, eating an apple now and then does wonders, when you switch from imk2 to eKnuckles (lifting weights) then bananas are very good, kiwi fruits are stuffed with vitamin C, a mess to eat but one of my favorite fruits and gives a good kick.
I've done quite alot of lifting weights, but the language barrier between us makes it difficult to talk about, I wouldnt know what to call the different exercises in english. ![]() Last edited by MindBuster; 03-18-2007 at 23:57.. |

Thanks for the replies
I guess spring break motivates a few people to want to improve their overall health I am, as of two weeks ago, lifting 6 days a week, running on the treadmill 2-3 miles before/1-2 miles after each workout except on Wednesdays and Sundays, so thats 6 days of weights, 5 days of 3-5 miles of cardio work per day, and gives me Sunday to recover. My diet consists of a full 18-count carton of eggs each day (1 whole, 17 whites) split between two omelets, tuna (not too much because of the mercury content), chicken breast, salad, 1 banana before or after workout, 1 apple, ~ 4 slices of whole wheat bread, 1-2 rice cakes w/ peanut butter, lots of milk and water, a multivitamin, and a protein shake before bed. I will probably add another protein shake, and creatine into the mix soon. Split up, its 5-6 meals, ~ 2300 Calories, 220g carbs, 2900 mg sodium (bad?), 225g protein, 20g fiber. I didnt even measure the fat in take because they are all healthy fats. Im currently a fairly toned 193 pounds, have stayed at that weight since I started working out 2 weeks ago, and would actually like to remain, or possibly gain. My questions were regarding calories (I think I need more, but from which foods?), cardio (I do it before and after my workouts, dunno if this is too often), and my diet (what I listed is basically the extent of all I eat, does it need more variety?) I have already started to see results, but I wanted some expert opinions of experienced people if they are out there, and yes I know I better catch them early in their EU careers ![]() And its nice that we can use EU to bridge the gap with our RL happenings ![]() |

stryker...
One thing that may be helpful for us, do you want to do anything as a goal... ex. triathlon, etc. I have been swimming ever since i was a little kid, and picked up tips along the way. Typically the body has trouble consuming more than 35 grams of Protein at any one time. Now remember this is an average... some more, some less. (typically this will be a lean protein, chicken/fish/etc, that is about the size of your palm). Roughly 5 ounces. Your carbohydrates should come mostly from Fruits and vegetables... When training, I never had more than 25% of my carbs in the form of rice, pasta, potatoes, etc. And as for fruits and vegetables... mix them up... variety is the spice of life. As for fats, Monounsaturated is the way to go... olive oil, avocado, olives, macadamia nuts, almonds, etc. As for proportions... I go 40% Carbohydrates, 30% protein, and 30% Fat. There is a great book out there by Bary Sears (I think) Mastering the Zone, at the very least go to the book store and check it out. As for your training, you seem to be doing quite will, just be careful to know the difference between muscle fatigue, and injury. If it Hurts, that's good, if it Hurts like an injury, well, that's bad. Simple point, but many people miss it. For gaining weight... lift heavy. Fewer reps with large weight will build muscle (if you do this, give yourself time to recover). And be sure to work the opposite muscle groups. To much of one and not the other is a sure way to mess something up. Your cardio seems more than sufficient. Just realize that your body will adapt to what you put it through. So make sure to change it up. Run until you feel you are not benefiting, then do something else, cycle, swim, etc. Finally for proportions... It differs for everyone... the book mentioned gives a forumla. Basically if you are eating healthy and you are hungry eat. But also remember that most people will confuse being hungry when they actually need water... so drink enough of it. It is the most important nutrient in the world and no one gets enough. Oh and eat like you are doing, spread out through out the day. Any further questions i would be thrilled to chat. GL M8 Hotei |

6 days a week lifting is an awful lot, but as long you split it up so you do different muscle groups it should be fine, just dont take a full body program every day, it's hard not doing it, but as time go by you'll figure out what I mean, but I'm sure you know that already.
Looks good, maybe cut down a little on the egg's, there are plenty of proteins in the chicken and tuna to cover that, and add a few slices of Rye bread, preferable with alot of grains, to be sure you get enough fibers. Also if you increase your fiber intake from 20g to 30g your body will absorb approx. 100 less calories, then it's just how you get those extra 10g fibers, how many calories that add. But I would cut down the wheat bread to 2 slices and add 2 slices of rye bread instead. Imo the shakes are not necessary, your diet covers it well, but as backup for convenience sake they can be good. Oh, did anyone mention lots of water ? ![]() Dang I wanna start up again after reading all that currently injured with a strained calf, getting better though.Last edited by MindBuster; 03-19-2007 at 05:27.. |
