Since there wasn't an easy to find topic with a discussion on how to get Linux and eu to work i thought i'd try to make one here.
heres my problem: I don't like Vista and i don't have the funds to pump up my desktop to make it vista capable.
Solution: learn linux: but
that creates this problem: I miss EU and Ventrillo
has anyone tried successfully to get E.U. to work in a linux environment?(i ahve bare minimal experience with linux, hence why i am starting to learn t, but i have tried wine a little but that didn't provide a solution.

i guess it would have to be with wine. ive been thinking of trying it but i have my doubts.

the esiest way around is dual boot system with linux and a win2k/XP install for gaming only
a harder solution would be an emulation - there are some projects out there which should be able to do that but i never tried because of the high load that EU produces that i don't want to increase with another emulation layer

Well i think with wine you also ahve to have interent exploxer runing at the same time? as i cna get eu to load up but it comes up with an error screen but no error.

haven't tried it but i was thinking it run in a virtual machine using Xen

i can understand wanting to use linux for it's many benefits, but as your problem only states you don't like vista and don't want to upgrade your machine, my answer is:

solution: use winxp?

I use Win2k pro sp4, that works pretty darn good, and doesn't have any of that nasty online-verification stuff that XP has; um, you know, in case I um ... lose my serial number. You know.

Of course, its only a matter of time before MS makes Vista-compatibility == Backwards-incompatibility.

So i messed up my Linux install today, but don't fret i am going to continue to try and get this to work, as wine is now running wow near perfectly I have hope.
