Southeast US skydiving meetup

This thread is an invatation to get a group of EF'ers up in the air. I plan to go skydiving in two weeks ( April 28th), in the Atlanta area, but can move it to Knoxville or Charlotte if that makes it easier on anyone.

For those that have not been skydiving before:
There are two methods that you have to choose from when making your first jump;
A tandem jump, meaning that you jump while strapped to an instructor. This
is the most common way to go about it.

Accelerated Free Fall (AFF), meaning that you go through a several hour training course before jumping, and you jump by yourself, with two instructors in close proximity (they hold on to your chute and teach you basic control during free fall). You deploy your own chute, and are responsible for your own landing. This option is only advisable for those who think they would be interested in getting their skydiving license.


Prices are $139 for the tandem jump, and $239 at the field I have checked out, they will probably differ if the location changes.

If we get a fair number of people together, a group rate will come into effect, and we will all pay less. Please post or PM with questions or comments.

You guys don't have an option of static line jump? That means you jump on your own but the chute opens as soon as you leave the airplane.

It's been a loooong time since I last parachuted but it is GREAT fun

I am not sure anyone allows static jumps for first timers... At least in the US..

In the UK they do allow static for first timers

to gain your licence or jus progress to get some freefall in you can either do the two methods you mentioned as well as the usual static line route to pass enough jumps/levels to complete your training all are open to first timers

if ppl do want to go (highly recomended for adrenaline junkies :P ) then i would suggest the tandem as first port of call for just getting a feel for skydiving if you plan to do it once and once only then tandem is the easiest option

havent jumped for a couple o years now :S but kinda wish this was in the uk lol would be good to brush off my ol log book and notch in a few more jumps

My cousin did a static jump his first time up in NY. I believe there was a lesson before he went though.
