Recording Software?

I've had a quick search of the forums but can't find anything.

I'm wanting to take some recordings (just short ones, 5 minutes max) of EU hunts etc.

Tried downloading a few freebies but they're not working for some reason (just getting a white screen - although it records the desktop ok )

Anything shareware or freeware would be ideal, I don't envisage using it often and don't fancy paying the $100 or so that a lot of 'them' appear to be charging.

It needs to be good enough to see everything, like the chat window etc.

Any ideas?

I always use fraps to record movies. But what I'd really like is an external device like a VCR, but digital, which can record my videocard output directly.
When recording using fraps my fps drops from 50-60 to around 10-15, which makes it hard to play and crappy to watch.
Any ideas if such devices exist?

Google Video Capture Card, just a graphics card with video in/out, find one with with video out and hook it up to a dvd recorder
