I think the scarier thing thought by most In this thread Is the fact that he was brought up to do so, and had the access to the gun. Also the fact we EAT cows, and they're killed especially. This wasn't killed especially, but eaten as a bonus.

Pick; Bolt to the brain? Or a few high caliber shots and the chance to run for a few hours...

I think cows that are kept and slaughtered for food are not treated this well. Just check out a few videos that are on the web.

The treatment of livestock for food production is a seperate issue, I'd say... Mass-manufacturing and hugely increased consumer needs have caused those involved to forget words like "humane" over ones like "profit"... I mean, if a fuel company can pay mercenaries to "move on" a whole community to rob resources from their land, and entire swathes of unreplaceable rainforests get wiped off the planet to make temporary grazing land for fast-food cows... who involved in all that is gonna worry if a cow can't move in the truck or gets killed in a drawn-out way that causes undue suffering? Half the world treats it's people worse than the rest treats it's animals...

If you're hunting, your goal should be to kill the animal in the cleanest possible way; the least number of shots, delivered accurately to the most important part of the animal. What this kid did is tantamount to stoning it to death.

I personally think ALL those who eat meat should have to kill, dress and cook a few animals themselves before being able to buy processed meat from supermarkets; given first hand experience of how the food comes to them, many might become vegetarian and meat would then only be eaten by predators, not cowardly scavengers with no respect for their food. This might even lead to less fast-food idiot-replenishers, less smog (most of the brown cloud over LA is burger fat LOL) and a nicer world all round.

I was about to quote that until I saw that you had-Why he was shooting with a pistol, I dont know. If he wanted to hunt it, do it humanely. Take it down with one shot preferably to the head, without chasing the poor animal for hours as it bled to death. With the size of it, the pistol rounds would have only penetrated it a small distance, doing no real damage to it.Why did they have to take down such a staggering animal?
