...yeah, but somehow I regarded that option as the "chicken-shit-outfit-option"...and less interesting...so I left it out...

Even if it looked like he was dodgey, still not worth getting involved. With that amount of cash, I wouldn't put myself and family at risk by going to the police (and with that amount I tend to think it would be putting them at risk).

I think a more suitable question to establish peoples morals would be he walks away leaving it unlocked...
Well THAT simplifies the options, doesn't it.

Did he get the warning he was placing it in a public area first?

(joke! )

Personally... I saw nothing, heard nothing, was never even there. Pretty much agree with the general feeling that its really none our business, even though one may be a little curious as to what was going on.
1) Just because he has that money doesn't make him a criminal. For all we know he got tired of carrying his next deposit to MindArk, and needed to put it somewhere safe while he took a rest. You can't just assume things based on little fact and much speculation.
2) Assuming it was 'criminal' money, its not worth touching. That amount of money obviously signifies something big is going down, and thus the risks are pretty high.
3) Got nothing to do with me. Not my cash anyway. So why bother about it?
4) If I was close enough, and he was allowing me to count that it was $1,000,000... then I'm probably the one he was handing over the cash to. In which case... why'd he walk off with the key?

I edited the post a little to address that.
To recap:
...besides getting as far away from that bus station, and as quickly, as possible.
Perhaps a cab to the airport or train station is a good first start, with perhaps a stop at a bank to convert some amount to travelers checks which are not as suspicious as cash when purchasing a hotel room or a ticket. Then get to another town and buy a car, a low end car that would arouse little suspicion when paying cash.
Then, ROAD TRIP!!!

If I am at the bus station, I must be in transit, so now my travel plas have changed a little. I am used to that.
No problem

Of course given that I know how much is in there, it would be logical to assert that he and I know each other, or he knows I know about the money, so when it turns up, missing, I am a prime suspect. So if we add that he knows me enough to have allowed me to know about the money, then I would be stupid to have done any of those options, and #3 becomes the next logical choice, but then I would be a killer.

I would then spend the rest of my days flitting from town to town trying to drown that fact from my memory by spending all that money on Couvoisier (XO, of course) until the money runs out and the demons take my retched soul.

Have I read this right

Some guy put money in a locker and walked away without the key.. and some would say nothing

I would tell him 'Hey Mister, your key?'

Im not into stealing, and I dont like seeing people get hurt, even by thier own mistakes.

I watch a guy walk away the other day, with his cash-card in the *wants to say terminal* am brainwashed*

and told him, he was grateful.

Why not tell him?

Yup. and since all four options are outside my moral/ethical boundaries, It falls to logic to make my choice.

Now if in option # 2, we had a redhead, or even a brunette, well, the whole formula changes.
