hEHHEHE ! Its usually called "juustonaksut" here in finland, or less usually amongst people who dont especially like them very much as "varvasvälinaksut" refering to the smell which emanates from between ones toes...

Well according to my local spar shop cheese curls are like Quavers....and cheese puffs are cylindrical as per the Wotsits and Walkers ones pictured by Jamhot.
Aren't they cheetos in the US?

As for ginnels and back alleys we have those here in Lancashire, also called lobbies by some old flatcaps here.

In Liverpool they call them jiggers so I was once told..and cats they call jigger rabbits .

I wonder if anyone else has Twiglets and what they might be called?

Why do people call the "bonnet" of a car the "hood" .....that's not right, The Hood is the bad guy on Thunderbirds as everyone knows

In the US, the following terms are somewhat interchangeable:

Cheesy Poof (Southpark started this I think)

Cheetos (A particular brand name, but often used as a generic name for the entire class of product)

Cheese Puffs

Cheese Curls

I've visited a plant where these are made once. All I can say is that the creation of extruded food products are both fascinating and repugnant at the same time.

AH, and the yellow powder that flavors these things and stays on your fingers until you lick them clean? That's "Cheetle"!

You made me go check the dictionary. It seems that you Brits have added an extra "i" to the word.

and bonnets are what babies wear outside on sunny days. I think I prefer having a hood on mine.

A colleague of mine went on a trip to America recently. Apparently, he got some very odd looks when he said he was going to pop outside to have a fag.

The metal originally obtained its name from the Latin word for alum, alumen. The name alumina was proposed by L. B. G. de Moreveau, in 1761 for the base in alum, which was positively shown in 1787 to be the oxide of a yet to be discovered metal. Finally, in 1807, Sir Humphrey Davy proposed that this still unknown metal be referred to as aluminum. This was then altered further to that of aluminium so to agree with the "ium" spelling that ended most of the elements. This is the spelling that is generally used throughout the world. That is, until the American Chemical Society in 1925 officially reverted the spelling back to aluminum, which is how it is normally spelled in the United States.
I concede, we dropped the i
