Which way does she turn ?

Ah, I got clockwise in the end, using sacred's method. Once I had, I had quite a bit of difficulty getting it back to counter clockwise

Ive looked, and stared some, even willed my brain to see counter-clockwise, she only ever seems to turn clockwise.

you are right most times I see her going clock wise but did see her going counter when I started looking from feet

Without the shadows, the image is entirely neutral - could be either way.

However, I believe the shadows provide a light cue that actually enables this puzzle to be "solved". Can you determine what the shadows tell you?

Check for yourself before reading any further...

Okay... The light is coming from behind the figure -- that's obvious (if the light were from the front, the shadow would be "upright"). So you may simply view the "shadows" as a reflection, if that makes it easier for you.

The reflection of the extended leg would NOT be visible as the leg passes near, only as it passes opposite the viewer.

Therefore the extended leg and arm are the LEFT ones, indicating counter-clockwise motion.

Is my logic flawed here? I don't want to be too insistent...

Well now that i'm totally motion sick...i can see her move in both directions...my secret is look at her then to the bottom of the picture and then back up at her...she turns everytime....i think i'm gonna get sick now...i wonder why that would cause me to get motion sickness.

I can't make my brain see her spin counter-clockwise - it's a clean clockwise rotation.

The ONLY way I can make her switch is by covering her body with my hand and just watching the legs, if I flick my eyes away and back to I can see the legs going in the other direction.
Then, SLOWLY, uncover her body.. Et voila!

\edit, if you want to make her turn counter-clockwise, try to flick you eyes back as her leg appears (or disappears as you see it clockwise) to the left, and vice-versa for clockwise
