Nubs can learn a LOT from hanging out at the rig and "listening" to the higher lvl players there. You can learn all about the best weapons, armor, which mobs to hunt and which to avoid, how long it takes to reach certain lvls, ect.

For a nub, there are many things to be gained from there other than free oil!

go to the rig and say you want to show it to your disciple (it helps to have someone following you )
that way i lasted whole 7 min (!), even had the honor to fap around a bit some ppl against trox with my mighty fap50 (not that there was any need )
well, after that we gathered and killed a spider (got a few soc mates with me)
and yes, we died more by spider than at the rig
but usually i avoid that place, always the 8 min run back is annoying, and as soon i use a tp i tend to find the only trox standing around for miles

Standing exactly where the last person tp'd in perhaps? They're clever those trox!

I last went a month or so ago, someone opened a wormhole in PA and I ran in. It hadn't changed from my first visit.

My best tip is for sure, get a decent outfit and talk your way in. Be gentle, don't hunt the oil. Not the first you do. Speak with them and enjoy the time, and mainly don't take a pk personal

Is there ever a time when no one is at the Oil Rig? Or do some of you ppl basicly live there.

I have had some harsh words for my killers at my fist few tons of tries just to see the freaking thing. I apologize to you. However, I do not see the killing of unarmed n00bs as anything respectable.

depends on who's at the rig. that and it depends on your wording as you're trying to enter the rig. usually, "please don't shoot. i'm unarmed and unarmored," translates to an easy pk victim. i don't know what to tell you. once, it took me well over 15 tries before i was allowed to stay without dying. perseverance and their boredom of killing me finally won! lol

as far as earning respect in places other than pvp... just don't be a douche, and most people will at least give respect.







ps: one rule that i try to make for myself when entering any pvp areas is "might makes right." i know full well that i can and will be killed so i have to be prepared for the consequences.
