10 Steps To Cheap PVP Training

First off, PVP and Pking are very expensive activities with compensation only toward the end and not guaranteed at all. If you plan on seriously entering the PK lifestyle, be prepared to shell out a lotta PED for expensive armor, fap and weapons.

The training, however, does not have to be expensive.

Step #1: Do not enter the ring at Twin
Except to offer your ass up to others while you practice running and dodging w/o armor on. Yes you'll die quickly, but the revive is right there and the experience is worth it.

Step #2: Find others to train with
PVP by definition needs others, but for best results in the beginning, it's best to join up with someone who is willing to practice the same way. Jumping into the ring against the big guns is a waste of your beginners time.

Step #3: Use the rings @ Billy's and Argus
Billy's is generally empty and Argus has great folks that can help (but they will kill you with their big ass guns.) there are other rings for use too, if you look around.

Step #4: buy/craft Jester D-1s & Mann MPHs
The lack of SIB will give you a more realistic feel for hits/misses without wasting a lot of ammo or killing you too quickly.

Step #5: Enter the ring w/o armor
Jesters/Manns do no real damage anyway, and no reason to take any decay

Step #6: First one to hit the other 10 times wins
This game will allow you to try techniques, etc. very cheaply. Remember Pk training gets you no loot, so using a big gun is a waste.

Step #7: Practice at the bottom section of PVP1
Southern PVP1 only has small mobs, (unlike the east section where n00bs get torn a new one) so no real danger, plus it's easy to get to. Once you got a spot, move to just outside each others shooting range (just outside your inner radar circle) and play the same game you played in the ring. This will now give you practice on how tactics change outside of the confines of the ring.

Step #8: Add fap-5/vivo-t1
In the next stage of the game, every time you're hit, you must fap. Now you'll get the feel of having to fap while fighting and learn how to heal-steal.

Step #9: Increase your equipment
Move up gradually in weapons, armors, and faps. Get the feel for using real nasty weapons for PKing.

Step #10: Hunt drones/electric mobs and tsk tsk
The dodge skilling and (chance of) loot will help you immensely.

Now that you're ready. Here's what it all boils down to

Entering PVP-loot zones and the rig
This is the money maker folks. The place all your training has brought you too. PVP-looting zones and the rig are the only place PKing skills gets ya cash back in your pocket. (Save for the semi-annual landgrabs.)

Land Grabs
LG 2008 is here and offers socs a chance for some nice residual income. Assuming your PK and teamwork skills are tops.

Good luck and happy hunting, but just don't PK me if I'm out there.

Happy hoffing.

Yeah I know. If you re-read step 1, you'll notice I don't actually say don't go there. I just say don't use it as your beginning PK training ground.

The Twin ring is a great place to watch and listen to the masters and learn from them, but wasting ammo or armor decay there is just that. A waste.

Step 9b, since you have just deposited for your new Eon, Doa and ubah fap, you better buy some skillchips to get that hp over 200 aswell.

Nice write up +rep

Can anyone enlighten a PVPnoob as to what "heal-steal" is?

Thanks,
DB

Nice list

However I don't agree with this:

It's true that you don't get much loot (if any), but the cost is usually a LOT lower than using similar gear for hunting, since you spend a lot less time actually shooting.
(There are a few exceptions though... )

But generally speaking, I spend a lot less PEDs when I do PvP than when I hunt.

Heal-stealing means that you run in front of someone who is healing himself. If you do it right, they heal you instead. Has to be timed precisely to have the desired effect, but it sure is useful.

I agree Vedder. Since it's much easier to hunt 3 hours vs. PVP train, you do run through more ammo/decay while hunting.

However, the major difference, however, is that chance of loot can reduce the cost of hunting, while PVP training usually has close to 100% PED loss.

'Course the way loot's been lately, that may not be true anymore.
