This is some great information, being relatively new to the game I'm glad I saw this before I was scammed.

Question

Figured I'd post here. I was doing what I thought was a decent job of trading, getting up to 10 PED worth of sweat. So i'm selling about 700 sweat for 10 PED, and the guy asks to give me a weapon instead. I have a bad feeling, but go along with it, because it's an axe with a 17 PED value. So I run it to the trader, just wanting my money and to get rid of this thing, and I sell it for 17 PED, and get nothing. So i was down to my spare change (a few Pec) and no merchandise. Is this some new type of scam, or was it just a really bad glitch?

This happened to me yesterday too. I haven't seen any warnings on this type of scam, so this may need to be added to some of the Prevention Guides. Basically what is happening is the scammer is hitting the Clear button on the transaction screen a split second before you hit Confirm, then because of the small type in the review page, you don't notice it til after you hit Accept. I'll be reporting this with screenshots in the Scammer Alert thread later today.

Can we get the Prevention Guide updated please? This one is really embarassing to fall for...

Know what you mean, some guy shows you his MK3 but when it comes to the Atrox Old Alpha he uses his Mann MPH and you wonder why it takes so long to get rid of the trox.

Best solution in PvP area, leave team, kill trox, get global, kill other player

This type of scam really shouldnt be happening if someone hits clear at the last second it wipes your accept, you then have to press is again, if he has done it just before you hit accept then it will show in the finalise window that they cleared the screen and it will show what you have offered and what they have offered.

If they have cleared it they wont have offered anything and the item will have gone or replaced with a smaller value one.

ALWAYS take a note of the final trade window it is your last resort and is the exact reason it is there

I will add this to the guide for you aswell

and maybe worth taking a look here I re-wrote alot of the stuff in these guides to my website

http://www.pementor.co.uk/Scams.html

This scam itself is an old one allthough it has changed slightly, people used to be able to swap items without you knowing for a lower value one or just getting rid of it alltogether.

Thanks. Yeah, they're doing it before the final trade window is posted. I agree it was my own fault, but frankly most scams are entirely preventable. The reason I feel I missed it, was that I was distracted and the font in the receipt is pretty small. When there's only one item in the receipt, it's easy to miss if you're not paying close enough attention. (Which of course, is the problem. I wasn't paying attention. That's the real source of this and all scams.)

Thanks for updating the guide.
