I dont understand people how they can borrow such expensive things... Sorry to hear that u got scammed but i dont thik that MA will help anything cos if that was a real Rob then they will say "hey u would not give your car keys to other peep?" but if Robs acc was hacked and other guy scammed u then maybe MA can do smthn...

They could at least have a suspect account takeover telephone line with 1 person.

you report a suspected takeover... they check ips and account info... then lockdown account until monday if suspect.
Only for NON gold card users.

The process:

Receive report from player/user
V
Check ip logs, see if new never used before ip appears
V
Check account activity/ differs from normal or not
V
Check for sudden trading of items and money for no return value
V
Check for avatar alterations eg... chipping out
V
If suspicions are enough lock account until monday to be reviewed by senior MA account officials. and/or lock the account receiving the said freebies.


Ild rather have my account locked for 2 days because someone thinks im at risk when its really me than have no-one do nothing and get stripped.

Im guilty of lending stuff to friends, and im not saying its right or wrong in this thread, altho we all kno the answer really to that one.

The point here, did this guy have a goldcard protected account? And if not - were you lending him your gear in the past? That would worry the fuck out of me, i wouldnt lend anyone jack if they didnt have a gc.

Ok, I didnt get scammed at all as I was certain from the first few lines of pm from him that it wasnt the guy I know. He has never asked me to lend anything to him before - which is what triggered alarm bells.

I take alot of care ingame and I think this episode of an avatar that I know contacting me and out of the blue asking to borrow expensive gear when the only thing that resembles my friend is the name and nothing else should be a warning to all to take care.

This is naming names about a player that hasn't even reported a problem.

Last time this happened it turned out the guy just was sick of the game and wanted to disappear and sell everything, and everyone got in a big panic over it because it so "wasn't like him"....

I'm aware it breaks rules. I'm also aware it could be a situation as you describe.

However, I've made a judgement call that Tekkie firmly believes it isn't his friend controlling the avatar. Given the light of Sammy's thread too it seems some dodgy goings on are afoot. Thus I've made the decision to allow the thread to remain open for the time being in order to allow the warning to the community. If it turns out to be a bad call I apologise, but I prefer to take that risk rather than for someone to lose their equipment to a hijacked account.
