Hacking! what should MA do?

My friend lost 20k $ right yesterday and this made me really sad...

I'm not sure of what MA will do, anyway I'm interested in what u think MA should do...

If ever there was a posterchild for Gold Cards, that thread is it.

MA's policy is pretty clear, but I believe the amount of loss will catch the attention of local authorities should the account owner file a report with them. In the US, cyber intrusion like that.. especially with the associated monitary loss, is a felony.

Im sure MA could do a lot more in such a case, but you know the story. (Go to the police and complain about virtual items)

Tough one to call, yes MA could do more help out here, quite obviously hiding behind all trades are final would not be the right thing to do in such an instance as this.

It's sad to see cases like these happening and I am genuinely sorry for the people affected, but people have to help themselves too, don't give away information in public forums such as EF which can fall nicely into the hands of phishers and scammers and if someone can't buy a Gold Card for 0.1% of their in game worth in this case then something is seriously wrong IMO.

sad story, but MA are not to blame at all. they themselves cannot stress enough how important the GC is to have, nor can we, the community.

even MA adhere to the "all trades are final" rule, proved by the fact if they wanted to they could have taken back all the duped mod faps and locking in some money in the game.

its insanely stupid NOT to have a GC when you're worth that much. yes, there's a lil chance that they didn't know about it, and then (only then) it woudl be unfair, but i highly doubt that the victim didn't know about the GC, which makes them all the more stupid for being a tight arse over 20 usd.

What should MA do?
They already did what they can: they provide you with a GOLDCARD.
If you are stupid enough to put $20k in without the security of a goldcard, so be it.
I know it sounds harsh, but i've read this shit 100 times now on EF and every time it's the same story...
It's the same as leaving your home doors wide open, wait for your stuff to get stolen and then go crying to the police that they should have done something to prevent it.

theres nothing they can do after the event, trades run too far, involve too many and it wouldnt work.

before the event, they could maybe enforce GC once a certain amount is deposited, but also important to provide other security measures too. It is only a matter of time before a GC account is compromised, there are scenarios that it simply doesnt protect against.
