I can't believe I'm writing this. My gold card is busted. I can't access EU.

Support case sent, but I have no idea how long it will take for a resolution.

Is it the card or the reader? It took support about 6 days or so to get mine to my door last time (I am in the US)

I have been able to use a smart card reader on a laptop at work to generate a number that works so if you have access to some other reader it may help while you are waiting.

Not sure ... I think it's the reader but have no way of knowing. I insert the card and the display is completely empty.

If its the reader, maybe the batteries need changing...

More than likely the batteries then. There is a post here on EF that has step by step picture instructions on how to replace the batteries. You might want to take a look for that thread - I will see if I can find it also.

It is more probable that reader died than the card.

Hope they can get it to you before LG if a fix doesn't work.

If i were you, I'd request a new card and reader if you are unsure(and if new batteries don't help), but that means disabling your current one and would make your account vunerable for a limited time.

When my gold card reader broke, I replaced the batteries and it worked for a little while more, but then it stopped working again, and I thought it was the reader, so I had another one ordered and shipped. When I got the new reader, I still could not generate any codes so I had to order a new card. Overall I was locked out of my account for two weeks which sucked big time.

Panic temporarily over ...

I found a tiny screwdriver and took the thing apart. Took out the batteries and rubbed them in the palm of my hands. Then I also gave the card contacts a little rub too - not too much. So I put the thing back again and hey presto - it worked!

But saying that, I'm now really nervous about it. I'm going to try and get a new set of batteries and possibly order a new card.
