Possible Account Hack

Please be advised that for the last 3 hours my Soc-Mate

ROSCOE DUDE GENTRY

has had his avatar logged in, but not been responding to Soc or Personal IMs.
This is NOT his usual time-slot (he's likely asleep) and he ALWAYS answers messages.

We are concerned someone may have hacked his account and be trying to sell items off his avatar at this time.

PLEASE DO NOT BUY THINGS LISTED BY HIM AT AUCTION IF YOU WOULD, AND PLEASE DO NOT ACCEPT TRADES FROM HIM EITHER.

I don't really know how to possibly help him any more than this, but he's an awesome person RL and I would really really hate to see him lose stuff he's worked hard to gather.

If anyone sees or finds him in game, please feel free to let me know.

Concerned.

Seems a few people are being noticed as logged in, when they are not really.

I agree with safara, i had a socmate appear logged in inexplicably for HOURs like....eight/nine when they aren't usually on for 3/4

also check he isn't skillin on dampers or sommat.

would have been a better bet to get a hold of him first before u posted on the forum. its best this sorta thing comes from the person who owns the ava, instead of a big misundersanding coming up in the forums :P

Firstly to Andy... I know Roscoe, and he simply doesn't work like that

Secondly: it appears that we have indeed experienced the "logged in while not logged in" phenomenon.

It happened in this particular case when Roscoe "lost connection" with the server and didn't log back in afterwards - just went to bed. Apparently, the game did not get his disconnect message, and took a very long time to idle him out.

So all is well, thank you for your time and interest.

Good to hear that everything is well!

I do happen to not log back in after a "lost connection" when it's getting late and I was about to log off anyway. Need to remember not to do that.

Yes, this happened to me only some months ago in the wee hours of a Saturday morning. I was team-hunting with a disciple and we both got disconnected. He was able to relog moments later as per usual, but when I tried to login, all I got was "Your avatar is already logged in. Please wait a minute and try again." It continued to say this throughout the entire weekend and Monday morning after.

To make a very long story short, it was about 54 hours or so before MA Support manually logged out my avatar, the following Monday afternoon.

It's indeed an old bug that I xperienced with some soc m8s long ago... some people in FL appeared to be logging in and out as I was tping to certain areas/servers... never completely fixed it seems.
