yep, i've ran into this a few times - usually ends with another society mate asking "who the hell are you saying hi to?"

I've seen it happen many times with many people in my soc.
I've actually seen their avatar at TI castle TP floating about 1 foot off the ground.

I've also had the cant PM a person problem.

That could be it , its not a bug its a feature.You can go to work or go to a party and let your ava hunting,mining or crafting for you.

Better than modified irregularities but not as good as improved irregularities? And CERTAINLY better than (L) irregularities, because you want to be regular as much as possible. I hear Caroots have a lot of fibre for that.

Very interesting case - I happen to have witnessed some glitches that are quite probably connected to this matter.

First appearance of it was when I how a socmate called it: "unlocked duality".
That means I was appearing in two places at once.
It was possible to open private chats with me at that locations, but not trading.
It even was possible to invite my shadow to a team...
this happened when I was hunting far south of corinth and someone met me at the same time in the twin peaks mall at the TP.

Recently on two different beacon runs, first I saw my socmate Dusk as not moving at one of the TPs in the bot ship, but Dusk was "in reality" following me while we checked on some boxes.
Same happened at a later beacon run to someone else with me while we were opening all boxes, must have freaked him out that I was lazy and not doing my level visibly...

From your story Pinky and from the events I witnessed I deduct that in fact its not a bug on YOUR or MINE side, but its a bug on the OBSERVERS side.
I claim that MindArk has coded a client side cache which stores avatar status data of friends and dragged to desktop status bars (with hand or team) and links this cache with a relative position in space.
This cache somehow is fucked and much too aggressive now, which means it does not recheck/refresh when necessary.

Had a similar prob. few months back, it showed a soc mate came online when I TP'd to camp phoinex, then logged off 10 seconds after leaving the area.
