I post this as a FYI thread.
M-Soft released a few updates To XP today, 9-July-2008. Among them is "KB951748". This update can cause complete loss of internet connectivity in some cases. It can also cause a PC to fail to see data on the HDD of the PC it's installed on. SO far the only solution is to remove this update, and flag is as "don't tell me about it". If you find your PC no longer see's EU, the net, or as I had at work, it's own hard drive, remove "KB951748". Hope this saves your the pointless phone-calls I made to IT-department-at-work and my ISP-Tech-support at home. |

Hi,
from what I know of this error, it is an issue with Zone Alarm, so should only affect those users with Zone Alarm installed. Zone Alarm are working on a fix, so users should allow the update to take place once this happens of course. See Zone Alarm website for further information of course! Regards, RiRa |

As mentioned in the second post it's an issue with Zone Alarm firewall software (surprise surprise
 ) and not with the update itself. |

I had this problem this morning. When I turned off Zonealarm my net worked.
For any that don't know how to remove it(KB951748). Just go to control panel and add/remove programs.In add/remove programs, make sure that the little box at the top that says "show updates" is ticked. Then remove as with any proggie. |

Sounds like MS's way of making ppl turn off zone alarm since they don't like it telling us what is trying to 'phone home'.... lol
