Goldcard security antihacking system!

Hey in my society we speak about having a Golcard-rule that all of us in society nust have goldcard.

Now I just came thru a thing and ask the rest of u citicenz about negative.positive things about goldcard.

Pls do not believe this is anything more like a why should we should have goldcard or why doesnt it matter thoughts.

Myself i got goldcard and even two safe firewall systems in my computer, so i feel 70%safe now

how do we do to avoid any hacking-attempts in the future?
One of my suggestions is changing password once in a while.

Pls come with your suggestions tip and negative thoughts i do not take it personal and i just feel that i need to clear things up to my society.

Install a good virusscanner and update it daily.

Gold card is 100% secure, this is a banking system.... unless you know the logarithm you can not crack this atm...

Anyone without a Gold card and value in EU is just stupid...

Hey, Goldcard is a good thing and it works perfectly since I got it, never had any problem or negative things with it.

But a Soc-Rule that you need one? I dont know ..
Not everybody has an account that others would try to hack, or enough stuff to protect it investing 200Peds.

To avoid beeing hacked use common sense! Dont open strange eMails and even more dont open attachments in eMails from strangers and even more more dont install any weird programs!

A Firewall and Virus Scanner help too, but not opening unknown Attachments/Programs is most important imho.

Gold Card and your brain are the best protection against a Hack but Gold Card is for sure not 100% secure. I know at least 2 ways you could trick it.

So allways remember:

- Do not belive there is a Hof-Finder or free Money tool for MA
- Do not download tools from other than the original source
- always use Antivirus with new signatures to check it out, prefferabely after 24 hours or so of grace time
- React immediately if your login with Gold Card does not work and your computer acts stangely and suddenly the Login at the MA Support Website does ot work anymore or your data there is changed.


PS: I think the discussion about security and possibilitys to breach it we had already.

PPS: Gold Card is a very good protection against 99 % of hacking cases witch would succeed without Gold Card so use it or dont blame MA for the losses you got when you are hacked and your avatar stripped of its belongings

that is the dumbest thing to say, partly because it isnt true (100% secure is impossible) but mainly because it breeds complacency. we have previously covered possible compromises have a search we dont need to raise them again.

You must also run anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewalls, and importantly engage brain when on t'internet. In fact id suggest the most secure setup would be to have EU on a completly seperate PC, on which you never use the internet. You want to also consider keywords with soc members to confirm deals in case you get mugged/broken into and your GC stolen.

you can have the best lock on your front door but if you leave a window open its a waste of time.

Thing is that I only ask myself if it is a worthy investment for newbies as for ubers.
I had some thought that if my ava is worth more than 1k ped plus the gear to buy goldcard.

I bought a goldcard just when i breached the serendipity-unlock. Before that i thought i had to keep money for skillings..

The logarithm that is used on the smart card is not crackable with a normal PC system ok ? Banks us it, the US ministry of Defence uses it ... The Gold Card is the most secure system around. The only way to bypass this is if you have malware on your PC that mirrors your activities to another PC and kicks you out of the game once you have logged in. That is some hardcore piece of a crack if you know what I mean...

That's what could be interpreted as "locking the door" as you say. The Goldcard itself is fort knox, if you leave the doors open then of course it's useless but otherwise... good luck cracking it

It's no need to scare people. Anyone with normal security setup and a gold card has done all he can do to prevent his EU account from being hacked. It's as close to 100% security as you can ever get.

maybe hard to crack, but it is a long long way from 100% and well with in the competency of any professional coder. Its not even best of breed, the RSA implementations are far more secure. Fact is, without all the other security measures the GC is near obsolete, and with them in place it adds more peice of mind and over confidence than anything else. If my tone seems harsh it is because people fall in to complacency far too easily with IT security (myslef included).

Because of the way MA has things set up, there are ways that a Gold Card can be circumvented (not cracked) provided the wiley hacker studies his intended target long enough. I won't go into it here since it's a: unethical, and b:against one of this forums rules (and one I actually happen to agree with).

You do sum it up nicely though. The GC does add yet another layer of security to an EU account, and anyone with enough value in their account to worry about loss if indded a fool if they don't have one.
