I just received a query about this set privately: how does it compare to Solir, price and protection-wise?
Great question, and my answer has a few factors. The first thing that springs to mind is the difference in blueprints. If you own a set of Solir, you can be sure that at the very least, the Harness will always be difficult to replace when it breaks, simply because the limited blueprint clicks are so rare, and difficult to get hold of. We, for example, try our best to supply full sets of Solir, but as soon as we DO produce harnesses they get snapped up very quickly. With Spectre, however, the blueprint is unlimited, so if you can get it off someone once, you can get it off them again. The limiting reagent here is Strengthened Metal Plating, which is hard to find, but not as hard as Solir Harness clicks! Protection-wise here's my analysis (and I'd appreciate input from anyone knowledgeable on the subject if I miss anything - you guys know who you are). Solir(L) Solir's key features are two-fold. Firstly, it's got great atrox stats - impact, cut, stab are 26, 23, 19 respectively. Secondly, it's good for robots and PVP too - pen, burn are 15, 12. So, you can wear your solir in a lot of different situations and get great coverage, with the right combination of plates. Of the 87 armours on entropedia, it has the 13th highest total TT value at 829 ped, so it lasts a fair while too. Spectre(L) Spectre's key feature is its higher impact stat of 31, making it great against impact only mobs such as scaboreas, mulaak'f, esto, corns, bery, ambu etc. It also has 28 burn which obviously comes in handy. 28 burn and 14 electric for example, make it ideal for taking on second entities, and when you add the impact back in, it seems like it was made for sumima. 18 stab, 15 cut and 13 cold will come in handy too! Price-wise, I can only speak for the cost of production. In EU's RCE, who knows what you'll end up paying for a set of armour. You won't find either on SFE's pricelist at the moment: (i) Our policy is to sell full sets and we don't have Solir Harness at the moment, and (ii) This is our first Spectre sale ever so it's not yet available in our shops. In my opinion, going by our figures from the month of September, you SHOULD be paying at least 1725 ped for a full TT suit of Solir (about 208%), and 2800 ped for a full TT suit of Spectre (about 505%). So, what's the better armour? I can't decide! On one hand, Solir's longer-lasting and a bit cheaper, but on the other hand you'll find yourself using it all the time. Spectre, on the other hand, is pretty awesome to have ready for when you really need protection, but it will probably last a long time between replacement of parts (at our shop in the near future!) because you won't need to pull it out for everything. Personally, I've always wanted a suit of Solir, but I'm certainly going to end up with Spectre as well. I hope that answers the question. |
