Well judging from answers I am encouraged to do some more experiments.
I know there are some deviations from skillgain at start and end of levels - like I now experience extreeme slowdown in enginiering as it slowly aproaches 4k (interesting - does it also affects other skill gain rate) So I am offering such experiment - newbie (lvl 0), medium and pro enginier doing the same BP ar same QR at same condition for same amount of skills. Each one of contestants after the experiment extracts gained skill amount and we compare them. As far as I am concerned skillgain in each case should be equal. But there are many other interesting experiments that comes to mind. |

Those extra hard ~50 levels before 4k (or whatever the slowdown is), they also 'fill' more on the ESI, so the value of your skill gains is still constant. |

Problem would be finding a real newb.
Was at a point where my skill gain seemed a bit slow, raised my INT two levels and all the sudden I gain a bit better (not a great lot, could also be that I was at some magic barrier and broke it by skilling INT) Also for the test a big batch of at least 20k clicks should be used, preferably with medium costs per click, the low cost BPs like filters or dampers are not worth the trouble. |

(This is a post in general about the subject)
The slowdowns are most likely controlled by several things, but it isn't only the frequency of green lines, it's also value per gain. Value per gain is IMO related to what we spend (=decay), well, maybe not the only factor, but a big one. Look at this screen, where I did one ( of a million, it feels like ) test ifvalue per gain were different depending on what I used, when gain came and some other factors... ![]() (Test were done like this: I toke a screen after every gain in Rifle, and pasted it in PS as a layer, and then I colored some lines to see difference easier. Ammo used per amp were approx 100ped if I remember right. ) |

I would have to go with the observation that skill gain 'slows' over time. I upgraded to using a Fusil Charade (no SIB
), and during my month, or month and a half, my skills skyrocketed, average a skill increase each shot, or every other shot. Lately, after hitting level 27 in Laser weapons, I am seeing 1 skill increase perhaps every 10 or so shots, and at times, more (less at times). And this is hunting the same mobs, Allo's, Ambus, Atrox. Perhaps its the mobs that affect skill increase? I only say this because hunting hogglo (solo, tough, HUGE decay), my skills are back to regular incriments. I'm going to assume the mob difficulty contributes into the calculation for skill increase. my 2 cents. |

I think some testing on this is a great idea because I THINK that skill gains do go down on lower level activities. My example is today I made basic coils for a run on OA-103 amps. during the 400 clicks needed i had a total of 15 green skill gains. As I recall when i started crafting basic coils as a noob to crafting I had much more than that. When I switched to Durable coils i had 25 skill gains in 100 clicks. Didnt pay attention to amount of skill gain but the message rate has sure changed.
