Thoughts and Myths about Perception..

I got Perc! .. err.. ok? I just killed 100 argos, got perc 3 times.. lost 300 ped,, what is this perc you speak of? I cant say that ive never got perc and globaled in the area that ive gained perception, but 9 times out of 10,, nada. Ive heard other myths about it to like, whichever way your facing is the direction of the,, global?? hoff?? ive also heard that it means your going to find something with a value of 4 ped or more?? I think I need to understand this in better detail to be a more efficient hunter/miner., Are there any "facts" about this perc stuff? And what are your opinions about it?

The developers of this game rarely, if ever, give any insight about the inner workings of EU.

Edit: If they told the playerbase how things worked, they'd be broke, and we'd be loaded. Who would ever NOT profit if they knew exactly how things worked?

The only real thing ma has said is that skills dont affect loot, that does not mean that loot can affect skills though.

so what does perc mean, well item on some mob or a 7 ped loot, or somethign a bit more rare.

How to use it, if you have been running east for a while and u get a perc, means something is around you within 300m, if your in the area alone it's most likely more to the east, but if your in argo land at twin it can be anywhere as stuff spawn around you all the darn time. Also it's very likely that someone else finds the mob that produced the perc gain.

the theory is fundementally untestable and therefore scientifically invalid since "someone else could get the loot first", you dont have enough skills to find the deposit, it moved outside of a magically predetermined area, or any number of other excuses. ergo it is an matter of faith, not of fact.

The only thing there seems to be any proven link to is the idea that perc gains relate to another avatar being close by. By extension, it may therefore indicate other events in the environment, such as you have entered into a deposit field, a mob has spwned out of radar range or some other.

incidently, the perc=loot nearby explicitly indicates you beleive that mobs carry around loot on them, i wonder how many people do actually beleive this in relation to the numbers that beleive in direct perc loot link. it should be pointed out that if a mob is carrying loot then why is there loot lag, or more significantly why is there lootlag before a no looter (since the mobs loot flag should be able to register no loot instantly).
