Skills and their impact on damage

Hello
I currently have 2,2k Rifle and 2,2k Inflict Ranged Damage
Decent laser carabines, like Isis LR32 (L) are not even close to maxing (16,5-33 dmg, while max is 33-66).
I was wondering would it be maxed if i chipped some rifle skill, increasing it from 2,2k to 3,5k. And if not, then how high skills do i need to use those medium (L) rifles? I can use Riker Ul2 atm, but i need something stronger.

For determining your stats on the weapons, your professions are the important thing, not the skills. The skills are what you need to build up those professions, but the profession levels determine how well you can use the gun.

With those stats, you must not have reached the recomnmended level for the LR32, which needs Level 16 in Ranged Laser (Dmg) and Laser Sniper (Hit) professions.

If you're following the (L) skilling route then you need to gradually move up to higher weapons as you go along. For the fastest skill gain you should try to use a weapon that gives you Skill Increase Bonus, i.e. you have reached the recommended levels but haven't maxed out the weapon. For best eco you should always use a gun that you've maxed.

From UL2 the next step would be Riker UL3 or Breer M4A, I think (but don't quote me on that, I don't generally use laser rifles).

The best thing to chip, to raise your damage professions, would be Laser Weaponry Technology, but I'd suggest just carrying on skilling with the appropriate weapons and let your skills build up naturally.

Hi,

To answer your question we would need to know all of your skills related to rifle hit+dmg that would allow you to use the lr32 at max damage/hit. The easiest way to chip this would be Laser Weapons Technology, however unless we know what the rest of your skills are we can't give you an exact figure.
The skills values that would be required to know are:
Courage
Dexterity
Perception
Aim
Combat Reflexes
Marksmanship
Rifle
Weapons Handling
Laser Weaponry Technology
Inflict Ranged Damage
Ranged Damage Assessment
Anatomy

The two professions you need are ranged Laser (DMG) and Laser sniper (HIT). To max out an LR32 you would require level 20 in both. (enter 2000 in the profession level/target level box on each).

there are a number of options for you available. it is highly recommended you are at level 16 hit before you think about using the LR32 - remember that the effectiveness of a weapon is a combination of HIT*DMG. Also note that it is difficult to find large chips you may have to do this gradually.
Option 1.
Chip a LWT(Laser Weapon Tech) chip 227ped TT(approx 2700ped) will get you to level 20 DMG (LWT will be 5600 to finish). Your hit will be raised to level 18.7 as well.
Option 2.
Chip 100ped TT LWT and 40ped TT Marksmanship total cost ~ 1600ped
Option 3.
Chip 90ped LWT, 31PED Anatomy, 16ped Marksmanship total cost ~ 1050ped
Option 4 (most desirable)
Chip 26 ped LWT, 20PED Anatomy, 14ped Marksmanship total cost ~700 ped. now go shoot something to unlock Ranged Damage Assessment (should be level 18 DMG). Now you can chip 5 ped TT Ranged Damage Assessment ~65ped, and be level 20. Your hit will raise to level 16.8 through the chipping of MMS and LWT.

Yes 25% of your LWT skil contributes to DMG, but only 14% to hit. More info can be found here:
Impact of skills on professions
The second highest skill contributor is anatomy @ 20%, which will consequently bump up your first aid skills.

You seem to misunderstand how actual damage inflicted is calculated. The formula contains Hit Ability multiplied by Average Damage; they are equally important (more or less), and you should strive to increase both.
