Actually its more then that, if you count tool decay to remove and insert the chips(its 5 ped to fill each chip and 5 to insert each one right?). Duno how to estimate that, if you count it as 100ped esi/use, its around $20,000 worth of decay. I dont know what the average size of chips made is.
And of course that assumes all the tt on the esi sold have been used. Some of that would be converted to ped if the person didnt use the full chip. I dont really know how to estimate that either. In any case, its a non trivial amount. |

There will be more players soon, more planets (not like Calypso maybe?). so I would think it's safe to assume there will also be new skills too?
Textures were recent additions with related skills...and vehicles when they arrive could bring a skill or batch of skills with them too? Who knows what other new skills MA have planned. Maybe there will be a new attribute, memory? "You have forgotten how to use this item. please visit an auctioneer and chip some skills back before trying to use it" ![]() Skill prices are sure to drop, but I don't think it's (L) gear causing that alone, more like the effect the peds have on your pro standings due to nerfs? Chipping is only really very useful to low/mid lvl guys or rich kids willing to pay for uberness. We need more n00bs who stay, more professions, and more universe...if we get those there shouldn't be a huge problem should there? Necro this thread in 5 years...see who was right, that will be interesting I think. ![]() t |

Simpliest way it would be to decline a new uber and a new newcomer class. Maximum skill should be raised by 5000 in each class - with slow downed skillgain as it is it will take very very long time for the people that already have 20k in a skill to get the new maximum.
But I think MA already doing something, at least they announced the implementation of Stamina with CE2 and who knows, maybe then they also put up the maximum number of skills, implement new skills (as they already did from time to time) and give us something new to aim for. I think it's fine, I need 50k ammo to raise around 5 Points in Rifle, so I'm busy for the next few and more million ammo ![]() Esis won't drop in price too cause if more esis are needed for more chipping out, but dropping rate stays the same, the prices will raise. I really wish they set up new "low level" armors (I really believe cause mid- level armors like Nemesis, Vigilante, but even Rascal get pretty rare), set new low level mobs and new low level class. I don't think that today's players will lose in the future, I think today's players are the ubers from tomorrow, whereas the ubers become legends. More and more people playing MMORPGS, with CE2, and a bit not so frustrating loot system, and more things for sweaters to do, like collecting other stuff too, so creating more possibilities for new arrivals Entropia may grow bigger than we expect. 2005 no one would have dreamed of getting 700k registered accounts and around 25k active users, 2008 noone dreams of 7 million registered accounts and 250k active users... let's look forward to 2011 ![]() |

MA can always add more skill-nerfs, and chipping will always be a way to get rid of 10% of skills.
Keep in mind: To start now and become "uber", you practically NEED to chip in. The more players do this, the more skills are sucked up and blown down the toilet because of the 10% loss. Not to mention plenty of people will chip in (-10%), then chip out (-10%), quit for a few months and come back and chip in again (-10%). Plenty of skills are flushed every day, I wouldn't worry about it. |

MA could simply add higher and higher level items, so you never have too much skill. That is one way to solve it.
Besides fading skills, another solution might be to have an activity bar in EU. The activity bar determines how much skills you gain. When the bar drops below a certain value you simply stop gaining skills. This value should get higher when your skills get higher. So at one moment it will be virually impossible to gain anymore skill, unless you are very active. Overall I think the first option is favorable. When overall skillgain can be kept low enough, it wont become a problem. It should match IRL inflation, although that might require some more nerfs. |
